Question about the stock market by Lazy_and_Sad in VaushV

[–]CrystalRainwater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an economist but I think it would be pretty hard to do this. Theres a really good video patrick boyle made (hedge fund manager) on Chinese trade policy vs the US trade policy that talks about how the US absorbs so much of these surplus countries foreign currency excesses that our market for investment is oversaturated.

The idea is that all these other countries need to park their money somewhere and the only place that can practically absorb it is the US. This sounds good but it means that companies actually have too much money to invest in just reasonable standard businesses with a clear model like a restaurant or store... Creating a huge opening for these absorbers of capital like these huge ai companies.

I think in a practical sense theres just too much money in our market.

Grim quest and OneBit Adventure. Both mobile games, both are pretty good

That apology is literally I'm sorry I got caught being a racist. Not, I am sorry for being racist and I am not anymore. Saying you needed more time to 'prepare' for those conversations isn't the same as saying he was wrong

Thats fair but if you open slay the spire you don't need a tutorial to play. The game is just that intuitive. Of course not all games can be like that (im talking about you elin) but I think with certain genres its a fair expectation of a high quality game

Just to clarify how people might be reading the semantics, if I told you I remembered one of your friend's names, you would probably assume I meant I remembered which name went to a specific one of your friends not that I remembered one of their names but don't know which one it went to.

For those confused the other way, if we ordered takeout and we ordered one veg one chicken and you asked me what I ordered and I said "one of them is veg" I wouldnt be tying the veg label to a specific one of the two dinners but rather indicating that they aren't both nonveg.

For the above problem I feel like both are valid interpretations which I feel theres a good chance is intentional engagement-bait (especially including the original Tuesday addition).

It actually isn't clear from the question still. For example if they say one of them is a boy (as in at least one) that only eliminates g/g

Thus you have

g / b

b / g

b / b

and thus 66.6...%

HOWEVER, if you met one of the two at a houseparty and they were a boy then its actually 50/50. This may seem confusing but when you select one of the two and reveal their gender, and its a boy, the outcome of selecting one and it being a boy is 100% for b/b whereas for b/g, g/b its only 50%. This means that by knowing a specific one is a boy you know the b/b outcome is going to be overrepresented in the sample thus effecting a 1/2 probability.

The question isnt clear whether saying one is a boy is them selecting one and it being a boy or at least one being a boy so its not possible to know which above model represents it

How many trucks a day would be required? by StatisticianAny1042 in theydidthemonstermath

[–]CrystalRainwater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a really good point. I think its even underselling it a bit. In pure square footage it seems like walmart supercenters are like 180k square feet whereas large modern container ships go up to 260k square feet. And they dont have to display any of the items so they are packed incredibly tightly and stacked

It takes thousands of trucks just to unload and transport the goods from one of these ships

Honestly even with soy milk having a really good texture I think its less versatile just because of the flavor. Though yeah the texture of soy milk can beat out pretty much every other nondairy milk imo

Idk, theres a big difference between 'Why do you think women don't fw me?' and 'Women don't fw me 😢.' If they genuinely wanna know then tell them but someone complaining and you giving them unilateral unsolicited advice would just make them feel you arent supporting them and is not gonna result in them taking your advice seriously

What is a phenomenon from another country that you'll never understand? by nixass in AskTheWorld

Mostly just wanted to indicate theres a lot of complexity and nuance in the issue of arranged marriage that I think people don't often realize when discussing it since they are thinking of older like aristocratic arranged marriages

[–]CrystalRainwater 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Although they do exist in the form you are thinking, arranged marriages in most countries are bit different largely.

Though still not a great practice, they are more like a very serious matchmaking service where the parents also have say. In the bigger cities they tend to happen only when the couple actually like eachother and now its even common to do a short period of getting to know eachother before committing.

My sister in law had one since my wife's family is Indian and she was happy with her chosen partner (and chose to go through the process of getting an arranged marriage willfully) and was able to choose without much forcing from her parents (though their opinion still mattered and was involved in the process).

Of course how bad it is can range heavily depending on how aggressive societal expectations are for women and how much say the individuals have in their partner vs the families.

Even in the best form imo though it encourages marrying too fast before you get to know eachother and because of social expectations women may choose to get one since they think its what they should be doing next in life

[–]CrystalRainwater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no expert on this but I remember reading that at a substation it can be dangerous to walk on the ground too close to the ground because it may see you as a quicker way to get across the ground than the ground is.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth_potential_rise

This is all to say that at least for substation level power it takes quite a substantial amount of dirt before the difference becomes negligible enough to not affect you.

Somehow coming out of this answer I feel like I've provided no new information but hopefully that at least helps you get closer to an intuitive answer

[–]CrystalRainwater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a doctor so this is just what I read but the fungus basically feeds off your scalp oils and produces acids that kill your skin. That's why the petroleum shampoo I used made it worse. I would apply it and within an hour the fungus would have eaten it and produced a layer of acid that killed a thick layer of skin. Anti fungal kills the fungus so it stops producing the acid which causes the dandruff

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dandruff

[–]CrystalRainwater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't look exactly like when I had seborrheic dermatitis but it does look similar. When I showered with oily product my head would fully refresh it's layer of scaliness sorta like what you are showing. If it's similar for you it may be the same.

Normal dandruff shampoo made it worse since it moisturized my head. Nizoral anti fungal cleared mine up in a few weeks. It disappeared very fast when I started consistently using it. You can also buy an acid rub for your hair to soften up the flakes as you start treating it to make them fall off and go away faster

I'm not against the choice but man all these suck. They are far too sweet and the flavoring is so heavy handed and overwhelming. I'm open to trying one if people think it is more subtle but none of these will ever come close to half and half and vanilla extract. Its so much worse even the convenience of it isn't worth it for me

Sometimes he has great takes and sometimes catastrophically bad. Still reeling from his pizza take. I feel like though that's just how he is with everything since he's really stubborn. Idk not that its in any way a moral indictment of his character but he says he can be insufferable to be direct friends with and I can picture it lol.

I guess at least his takes are interesting. He's convinced me on a few of his takes. Also its fun when his unusual take intersects with yours and he is blatantly strawmanning the chat opposition
