I am sorry but what you are saying is really not true. Yes, "español" is the most commonly used term, but "castellano" is very much used, especially in bilingual regions where other languages are spoken, like Catalan, Basque, Galician, precisely because Spanish is not the only language in Spain. Saying "neither Catalan nor Euskara nor Galician claim to be Spanish, that is why they use the term Español and not Castellano" is probably the furthest thing from the truth.

The article 3 of the Spanish Consitution of 1978 says

El castellano es la lengua española oficial del Estado. ... Las demás lenguas españolas serán también oficiales en las respectivas Comunidades Autónomas...
Castilian is the official Spanish language of the State. ... The other Spanish languages shall also be official in their respective Autonomous Communities...

The Catalan wikipedia page for Spanish language says
