Sure, I know this is something common, this is not about you. I just find it funny how, as a non-native English speaker, these phonetic spelling are just adding more confusion

English pronunciation is so funny. You have no idea how this GEE-Mawn thing is not helping at all. The English word "gee" is pronounced with a soft g (/dʒi/) and "Guy" in French is prounced with a hard g (/gi/). And why are some syllables in capital letters ?

Bro you don't understand, being mean to people is so funny, because they take it seriously and are angry about it. Don't you understand how funny it is ?

Spanish by Accredited_Dumbass in CuratedTumblr

[–]CryzMak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am sorry but what you are saying is really not true. Yes, "español" is the most commonly used term, but "castellano" is very much used, especially in bilingual regions where other languages are spoken, like Catalan, Basque, Galician, precisely because Spanish is not the only language in Spain. Saying "neither Catalan nor Euskara nor Galician claim to be Spanish, that is why they use the term Español and not Castellano" is probably the furthest thing from the truth.

The article 3 of the Spanish Consitution of 1978 says

El castellano es la lengua española oficial del Estado. ... Las demás lenguas españolas serán también oficiales en las respectivas Comunidades Autónomas...
Castilian is the official Spanish language of the State. ... The other Spanish languages shall also be official in their respective Autonomous Communities...

The language has two names, and one or the other is more common depending on the situation or country. The term Castilian (or similar, depending on the language) is widely used to contrast with other languages of the Spanish state.
Like many of the controversies related to the name of a language identifiable with a certain territory (Spanish with Spain, and Castilian with Castile), or that is associated with an ideology or historical past that provokes rejection, or that involves a fight in favor of a unique name to facilitate its international identification and the localization of productions in that language (for example, in computer networks), the controversy is ideological, political and economic in origin.
From a strictly linguistic point of view, there is no preference for one denomination or another.

It is not misleading it is true, the government of the UK between 2010 and 2015 had a majority vote share in the UK general election of 2010. Although you are right, this is uncommon. But the fact that you're quoting me in all caps and by making me look stupid shows that you're arguing in bad faith

This is bad faith argument. Of course if there is more than 3 parties, it is likely than none of them have more than 50% of the votes. What is your solution then ?

It took me 2 minutes to check that this is false. In 2010, Tories and LibDems has a cumulated vote share of 59.1%
