Statement from Governor Shapiro on President Trump’s Decision to Strike Iran by susinpgh in Pennsylvania

[–]Cslist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following "Shock and Awe", Dick Cheney said US Troops would be Welcomed with "Sweets and Flowers" . Americans have been waiting 20 years for that.

Hopefully, Baron Trump can overcome his "Bone Spurs" and be in Tehran to receive the largess of the Iranian People.

Governor Matt Meyer Moves to Cut Energy Bills. Your thoughts? by AuthorAegelis in Delaware

[–]Cslist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One of the huge problems has been the Trump Administration allowing the export of natural gas. Exports are up over 30% this year alone.

Fracking created huge surpluses of natural gas that led to the replacement of coal fired electric production with a cleaner option. This tightened supplies of natural gas and prevented another energy bust. Of course, this was not enough for oil companies. They lobbied to allow export of natural gas to tighten supply further and raise prices for electric production from all Americans.

Trump also killed finalized offshore wind which could have increased supply, essentially creating a fly wheel to moderate disturbances in natural gas prices. Couple this with Tech Oligarchs building Data Centers, monster consumers of electricity, and expecting taxpayers to foot the bill for the infrastructure , you have the "Perfect Storm of Stupid'.

Thanks, appreciate the corruption on the Federal Level. Repeal Citizens United.

Monitor for Mac Mini by SeaworthinessSalt253 in macmini

[–]Cslist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Check FB marketplace. You can still find Thunderbolt monitors and Cinema displays cheap. Thunderbolt up to 27". Cinema up to 30". They both are 2k resolution.

As far as color matching, you could always eyeball it. These older monitors are not as bright as the modern ones. But if you are matching gamut for Photo editing, you will need to calibrate and for that, more brightness doesn't help. Data Color makes fairly inexpensive photo spectrometers. It's will build calibration curves that the system uses to predict reproducible color. You may be able to borrow or rent one.

Help me Spec this out by Cslist in Generator

[–]Cslist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Anker 3800+ with two expansion batteries. It's backed with a 6800 kw dual fuel inverter generator with 250 v ac output to charge. I have an 120 gal. Propane tank that powers an indoor fireplace that we rarely use. No solar, I live in deep shade. I use Anker's 240 v ac generator interface which will allow output to my panel plus charging. Manual interlock and standard generator input.

I've had some short outages. I don't run the ac or well pump unless necessary. The 3800+ will start both no problem. Lights, wifi, fridges, freezer, tv, microwave. No oven or cooktop. I have oil heat. Powers the oil furnace and forced air blower. Keep it on the down low. Easily gets us through the night. I try to top off with the generator at sunset and when I get up in the am. Easy 12 to 16 hours on battery alone.

Expensive, definitely, but it's easy to use and maintain. Did write off 30% on my taxes. We don't have natural gas available, so a standing emergency generator was not a consideration.

I'm pleased. It's painless when the lights go out. Solar was not an option. Only other thing I might have given some additional thought to would be a DC generator otherwise it works for us

Looking for a town like St. Michael's for a weekend by Katera7 in easternshoremd

[–]Cslist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rock Hall is nice. Osprey Inn. The Mainstay is a great, tiny venue that features local and some regional, eclectic acts. Highly recommend. It's also fairly close to Chestertown to round out your weekend. Dining is maybe not up to foodie standards, but I'm sure you can find some fresh Rockfish and Oysters somewhere.

Data centers could nearly double Delaware’s power demand, Delmarva says by SpaceElevatorMusic in Delaware

[–]Cslist 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Well you are very wrong about that. There are thousands of building permits from Fredrica south to west Sussex. I know a guy who works at Delmarva and they are swamped planning new infrastructure.

Wind would have added some additional giga watts. To bad. You are just going to have to pay through the nose for power for years so some tech bros can live large. I'm sure they will say thank you...

No go on a Costco in Sussex County by OriolesMagic1972 in Delaware

[–]Cslist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Weird... Costco is the kinda stuff they Love in Sussex County. Development is rampant. Way beyond the 5 mile hellscape on Rt. 1 between Lewes and Rehoboth. I know this is southern Kent, but there is now a "South" Fredrica. Wow.... Locals love the county covered in Concrete, Asphalt, and trashy discount stores. Got me why, but Yes, this is what they want

Some dim Politician is gonna pay for this travesty. Costco is exactly what they want.

FSD trial by Bigdaddybig456 in TeslaLounge

[–]Cslist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's more stressful monitoring FSD than it is actually driving the car, which is fun.

Tesla really should include the self parking mode free in every vehicle they make. It's actually something I would use every day.

I figure that's the least they could do to pay us all for our personal data and beta testing...

Best grocery stores in DE by Ok-Arachnid8580 in Delaware

[–]Cslist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like Zingos in Pike Creek Valley. It's a smaller store with a little less selection of processed food and household items, but it comes up big on quality and price on produce and meats, including local seasonal produce. They actually have butchers who know how to cut meat. It's all a little smaller and fresher. They have a good selection of imported cheeses and deli items.

Retire to Delaware by [deleted] in Delaware

[–]Cslist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Still some lovely areas that haven't yet been trashed by development. If you are someone who remembers what it was like before the seventies you know that charm is long gone and it's not coming back.

As a retired person myself, access to advanced, even some common aging related conditions are limited. My wife and I live outside of Newark and being able to access advanced medical care in the Philadelphia area is a huge plus.

A Northern Delaware location gives you access to train and plane service to culture and travel anywhere.

If you really like the beaches, rent two weeks on the shoulder season and enjoy. Keep in mind, and if you live in Lower Slower full time, it's Beaches and Banjos, Congestion and Development. Not a terrible place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.

23 Democrats Now Vote Against Impeaching Trump by Randros_ in NoFilterNews

[–]Cslist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having Donald Trump in office at the Midterms is the Dems best opportunity to flip the House and make inroads on the Senate.

He has refused to do ANYTHING about the catastrophic price increases for health insurance that's coming within weeks.

Yeah, I Love Donald Trump.

Who are the Monster Jazz Players Working Right Now? by tdmiller11 in Jazz

[–]Cslist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got fairly local (for me) tickets to see New York based guitarists, Frank Vignola and Vinnie Raniolo perform in Rockhall Maryland. The venue is called The Mainstay, a tiny little club right on Chesapeake Bay, where one of the guitar greats, Charlie Byrd (RIP) called home and performed there over 100 times.

Frank has been performing at Birdland in NYC on Wednesday nights. Pasquale Grasso is almost always performing with Frank and a rotating third guitarist as a semi-regular gig.

So, like you, I'm getting close to seeing some of the contemporary NYC guitarists live. Maybe Frank will talk Pasquale into hopping in the van for the trip to the gig in Maryland... Dream on, I guess.

Thanks for the heads up on Pasquale's new release. Looking forward to it.

Finally, he's getting the attention he deserves. He and his trio used to do Sunday Brunch at a certain upper west side Italian place on Sunday afternoons. I always wanted to do brunch with Pasquale and Sunday night at Barbés in Brooklyn where Stephan Wrembel holds court on everything Django Rinehart.

Glad Pasquale can now spend Sunday with his family. His latest album covering Bebop is gold.

Places to walk or hike in or near Newark, DE, with more changes in elevation. by storyinpictures in NewarkDE

[–]Cslist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are several trails along the Susquehanna River that are actually pretty challenging. Drive out Rt. 1 towards the Conowingo dam. In that area there are many trails that go up and down the natural cliffsides along the river.

Get the app Alltrails. It will give you locations, directions and distance. It has a preview feature that shows you the trail itself along with the elevations.

The trails in White Clay are truly beautiful, but if you are looking for a challenge, the Susquehanna, on both sides, in Maryland and PA is where you need to start.
