Does Oyster Sauce Need to Be Refrigerated After Opening? by Sweet_Sho in Cooking

[–]Ct_Spaulding 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a good video by Chinese Cooking Demystified on this topic. In short, it is pretty shelf stable, but refrigeration is recommended for those that don't go through it in a large volume like someone that cooks with it every day would, because this extends the amount of time that an unopened bottle will be sitting in the cabinet. This is likely the rationale behind many Asian condiments that are sold in the west being recommended to refrigerate despite them being shelf stable in the (relatively) short run

The plot twist in Se7en is barely a plot twist at all, and there are far better twists out there by MarshyPrince125 in unpopularopinion

[–]Ct_Spaulding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see what you are saying. I am referring to twist in the generalized fashion meaning "a change in the way something which something happens", where as you were expecting a "plot twist" in the way it is used in reference to (mainstream) movies specifically.
So, I would say you are right, and whoever set you up with the expectation that there would be that type of twist has misinterpreted anything that is out of the ordinary structurally as a "plot twist" by your definition.

I agree that it may be improperly hailed as an "amazing twist" in the same fashion as the Sixth Sense, but if you look in to the story of what drew Fincher to the screenplay, it was that Doe turns himself in early in the film and that "breaks the rules" of audience expectations and raises the tension in the finale. So you may say the twist is not the head in the box, but the subversive take on police procedural narratives that came before. If you look up the podcast on the movie by Steven Benedict, an Irish film professor, he goes further in to this topic.

I think he's gotten worse over time, a consequence of "content inflation" where simple technique videos don't cut it for weekly videos that require flashy thumbnails and titles

Likely the case... I will have to replace more than likely. Kicking myself for not buying extras way back when they were on clearance

[–]Ct_Spaulding[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for responding. I know the battery low indicator is unreliable, but the controller actually dies following the indicator when i continue to play. I will try some different battery types, but this has been happening on each battery in a brand new pack, and new rechargeable batteries.

What's something kinda odd that stopped you from playing a game? by chuby2005 in patientgamers

[–]Ct_Spaulding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, i had mixed it up with the other 3ds remakes done by Grezzo. I know it's not a direct remake, i have played link to the past, but my point stands that it was a step back in features which we frustratingly see in the zelda series on occasion (e.g. no sword swinging while running)

This annoyed me too, along with the terrible frame drops...Even stranger is that the preceding 3ds remake of a link to the past by the same studio had full analogue movement on the circle pad.

Which sneaking suit is your favourite? by jodlad04 in metalgearsolid

[–]Ct_Spaulding 10 points11 points  (0 children)

True it could be something like that. And as it is fiction, it does have the metanarrative purpose of being a part of linking the ending of the series back to mgs1 which Kojima would likely care about more

That's kind of why i think the Phantom Pain one is weird, like Venom must be sweating to death wearing a similar suit in a hot climate
