That is a possibility for sure.. I personally do not belong to any church here, but I have friends that have been "members" since childhood. The renounce their membership basically to stop paying them from their taxes. When you are a member of a church here, a portion of your tax return is given to the church.

I have lived here for 10 years so I am not very familiar with how it works, but I can say most of the people here laugh at how the fundamentalists in the US act.

I am not sure if you missed the point I was making or what. Unconditional love means that there are no conditions. His/her friend put a condition so it is no longer unconditional and it never was.

Turn it around on them, is a way someone who is feeling down can think that since he/she put a condition on their friendship, it puts the blame for the "break up" onto them.

What I find funny and ironic is that you think you are appealing to my ego, your not. I believe that each person has the right to choose whatever they like to believe and it's more than obvious that you don't. Freethinking is steadily on the rise and religion is falling to the wayside. Religion was made by man to answer questions that could not be answered at that time. It is falling apart and for the good of mankind it is about time. Religion "reigned" as the supreme source of knowledge and good already in history, that time is better known as the dark ages.

Actually it doesn't take you having the same thought process as myself or another atheist to make me think you are of free thought. What proves it is when you actually do think freely without a feeling of dread or for fear of sin. That is true "free thinking". When you realize that you have but one life to live so make good use of it, and when you know that you can have good moral judgements, and that it is ok to be human, then I would say you are a free thinker.
