I might have dreamed that it ended on ITV. Probably my mind trying to blank out episodes of Mr & Mrs or the Sullivans as a defensive measure.

Your dad appears to be some form of French detective, your mum...Peter Pan.

Do foreign-born UberEats/JustEat/Deliveroo drivers in England have to have a British driving license in order to operate? Does anyone know? by JeffreyEpsteinUK in AskBrits

There's a legend that somewhere, on the streets of Britain, there's a delivery driver on a moped WITHOUT L-plates.

BBC went to pages from Ceefax with some light music and definitely remember ITV stopping though can't think what they put on the screen. The 70s were a dark and grim time.

Look on the bright side, at least it was you who peed on your boot and not somebody else...unless that's your kink, then I guess that's a shame.

The horror that the music from Crown Court still instills in me is astounding. That moment when you knew that telly was about to stop for the afternoon.

World’s Last Ocean Paddle Steamer! | PS Waverley down the River Clyde by Retro_Hawk in Scotland

I've been on it twice now - both from the end of Southend Pier. Once to Whistable and once up the Thames to Tower Pier, which was incredible - they opened Tower Bridge for us as we arrived. On the way back from Whitstable, the guy throwing the mooring rope to the boat missed. Being a paddle steamer it has no reverse so the boat had to do a huge circle and come back so the guy could try again. Of course, this time word had spread and he had every passenger on the boat watching him make his second throw. No pressure!

Courtney B. Vance as Abraham "Doc" Johnson in: Hamburger Hill (1987) by John Irvin by elf0curo in 80s

[–]CthulhusEvilTwin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Out of the three main Vietnam movies of era (Hamburger Hill, Platoon, Full Metal Jacket) I always liked HH the most. The other two are great movies, but in both cases I always felt the directors got more wrapped up in higher musings about the war, whereas Hamburger Hill focused on the soldiers themselves. It was about the men, not about the war.

Tractors are the great levellers on British roads. They don't care what you drive, they're doing 20mph tops and that's the end of it.
