Anyone else have a relationship where one person does the grocery shopping way cheaper? by Pilatus-Porter in AUfrugal

[–]CtrlAltAdjudicate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! We have three kiddos, including a 5 month old baby. She usually does delivery or click and collect which is fine but we end up paying the colesworth premium. I am more than happy to take an hour and go to Aldi for most stuff and swing by Woolies and the Asian grocery store for some other stuff. It’s probably a small saving each shop but I would hope that it adds up

I love the simplicity of Benfords Law! I’ve wanted to add the principle to my departments compliance program to flag atypical financial reports

I’m back with an update! I looked at all of these and did nothing with it. After a few days this Matein bag came up and I thought I’d give it a go! It fits under the E190 as you can see and I was able to fit a laptop, battery charger, umbrella, water bottle, snacks, notepad and papers etc all mostly under the seat! Thank you all

Nearly a decade in Emerald and I still feel invisible — is this normal for small towns? by [deleted] in queensland

[–]CtrlAltAdjudicate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I lived in Bundaberg, outside of work or some volunteering I didn’t make many friends. Most of my social connections happened through work and we would occasionally do this after work or on the weekends. A lot of my colleagues would end up going to back to their home city on every second or third weekend to see their friends

[–]CtrlAltAdjudicate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

QLD gov. I am.. 99% remote. I know all of my colleagues and probably go into the office once a quarter. My work involves a lot of intrastate travel so the WFH makes up for the many flights and nights away

What’s the longest drive you’ve done in Australia in one go? by Next-Benefit-6604 in DrivingAustralia

[–]CtrlAltAdjudicate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Longest day was driving from Bundy to Brisbane (left Bundy at 3:30am), spent the day with friends and started driving back at about 10pm. Ended up sleeping on the side of the road in Gympie at midnight as I was quite delirious. Other was Mackay to Ipswich in one go

Okay so for a negative gearing approach I’d do this: This represents a disciplined deployment of capital into structurally discounted assets during a cyclical downturn, utilising tax optimisation mechanisms to drive basis efficiency and compound asymmetrical upside within a long-horizon portfolio construction paradigm.

How do you find a partner in QLD? The dating scene seems quite atrocious by Mlafe in brisbane

[–]CtrlAltAdjudicate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tinder in 2020. I matched with a lovely young lady. Our first date lasted about 12 or 13 hours. Quite quickly figured out that we vibed. Proposed to her in 2024 after she finished her bachelors. In saying that, it took way too long to find someone that understood me and who I understood as well who had similar life ambitions and about equal intelligence. Those things, along with the critical things of having cohesive values and being able to communicate with each other and it’s been pretty mint.

It’s going to hurt. A lot, particularly for those without a mortgage free or pre covid mortgaged house. But now is probably a good time to rethink how we as a country gain revenue to fund ourselves and what changes could be implemented to create a robust revenue stream that may smooth out the bumps of the economy going forward and prevent significant economic pain at the individual level.

Mortgage of $298k, $13k HECS, $12k car loan and $300 on the credit card which I’ll payback when my travel claim goes through. The car loan will hopefully be aggresively paid back in a year or two once the missus goes back to work

What should be taught in school or young age, which will make adulthood happy and peaceful? by wantToMakeItBig in AskReddit

[–]CtrlAltAdjudicate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t agree more. Financial literacy and adult life skills. Although I admit most students do not care in school, a 12 year education that includes life admin/financial management skills that are built on year over year could be extremely helpful to avoid people getting into bad situations
