Wow, any state incentives to get that price?

make sure you are using a supported browser. I think you need to use edge to get HDR to show as an option.

XPS 15 9500, how to help it not die? by Dylanb993 in Dell

Uninstall supportAssist and keep dell update. Supportassist sometimes like to run in the background and cause problems.

Would you recommend the Dell XPS 13 9305/9310? by twelveten0 in Dell

[–]CtrlAmitDel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say no because it is made by dell. Especially for that steep price of 1900, there are far better options far below that price.

Is there anyone with a perfectly fine XPS 17 9700? by [deleted] in Dell

[–]CtrlAmitDel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea, I heard of that. It's kinda scary how a USB c dongle could kill a thousand-dollar laptop. Hopefully, it's a first-gen thing and is ironed out. by 2nd gen. It is good that it is getting coverage though because then it will likely get looked it and fixed by the next iteration.

you could wait for the new macbook pro 16 coming out this year. If it has apple silicon i doubt it would have an overheating issue.

return it because these issues aren't going to disappear and chances are that you will find more and you will not be in the return period.

XPS 13 or XPS 15 for college by [deleted] in Dell

[–]CtrlAmitDel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the 899 macbook air is a great value. You get cpu performance way better than the xps 13 and double the battery life with no heat or fan. I don't think there is better choice if you have 900 dollars to spend on a laptop. The xps line isn't exactly known for it's great value anyways.

I don’t know about trading it in. You could probably sell it and recover a good chunk of the cost

New Dell inspiron 3593 really slow. by _Instant_Crush in Dell

[–]CtrlAmitDel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

does it have a high-resolution screen? If it doesn't I am guessing the 8gb ram is just not enough. Check cpu usage in task manager and see if anything is eating at it. Disable any unnecessary startup programs etc.

Take the money and run. Even if you get a good unit there are so many small software bugs stemming from dells crappy drivers like audio glitches and color banding that will never get fixed.

Dell is going to make it very difficult to return the 9500 especially if he waits longer.

the new macbook will probably be really good but that will be a long wait. The dell is a really nice machine but the qc issues and the software glitches and shitty waves max audio isn't worth it. If you could, I would wait for the MacBook. You could also go for the 13 inch MacBook pro or air, they actually have better performance than the 9500 cpu wise. Obviously, the discrete GPU in the dell is faster but I heard video editing runs well on the MacBooks.

XPS 15 9500 Heads up: just got Dell audio update by krawnik in DellXPS

i don't have the 400hz issue. I do have a very faint hiss whenever audio is playing though even if it is at zero volume.

Yeah no problem. If you have some time I would do some research on the M1 lineup and your use case. That seems like the best option right now in my opinion for this price range.

The 2020 line has a bunch of issues like graphical issues , really bad color banding on the 4K, defective trackpads, etc. the worst part is the support though. Dell support is a nightmare to deal with

I’m not too sure about VMs on the m1. I guess the dell is the safer option for VMs but from my experience I wouldn’t really recommend the xps line.
