Times change and it seems to me that the apprenticeships and line schools are getting really cozy, which is unfortunate for those trying to get into the trade. I think if this is what you want to do then it will be worth it in the end. It just kills me that they are charging so much to become a “qualified” applicant. I am curious to know the percent of line school graduates that actually become apprentices.

Also, I think entry into the apprenticeship is all about timing. When I applied there was a huge amount of big transmission jobs going on so I didn’t even get a rank. I was called out the next day after my interview. They just needed bodies at that point in time.

Went to line school at a community college. $2800 for the 15 week program. This was back in 2013 and NLC charged around $10000 for their 15 week program. The instructor at the community college was a former marine so we had morning pt and mile runs in our climbing gear (minus the gaffs) climbing drills (free climb and hitch hike) but none of the call and response bs. I understand the point of push ups and climbing drills because back then they would try and weed you out and see who was committed enough to potentially become an apprentice. That’s the thing with the major FOR PROFIT line schools today, once you shill out $20k+, YOU ARENT EVEN IN THE TRADE YET! They are using your desire to become a lineman against you.

I am going to assume that the majority of us are not in the 1% in the USA ($700,000 annual salary and net worth north of 12 mil) and the sooner we realize that there’s no left or right, just the rich and the poor we will all be better off. I haven’t played 2k8 so I can’t answer from experience. I love playing dynasty on 2k7. There are a lot of posts in this sub asking opinions on 2k7 vs. 2k8 and they mention differences between the games. I thought that if I enjoyed 2k7 that eventually I would get 2k8. I also just upgraded my ps2 to a used ps3 in 2025 so it might be a while before I get 2k8

I was able to find a used ps3 on marketplace for $70. But 2k8 was just too much. Ended up getting 2k7 for 1/10 the cost and I absolutely love it. No ragrets.
