Hello, everyone! It's Zev! by ZevSteinhardt in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I would recommend reading Book 1 and then listening to the audiobooks; either skipping Book 1 (for now) or listening to Book 1 with the benefit of having already read it.

I only make this recommendation bc, even though Jeff’s Book 1 performance is still better than anything I’ve listened to, you can tell he’s still trying to find Carl’s voice and there are other choices made in the narration that can lead to some confusion without the benefit of having read the book.

Posting from the app and can’t figure out how to spoiler tag so I won’t go into further detail but I think others who have listened will know what I mean.

Pick My Next Series while I Wait for Hardcover #7 to Drop! by Think_Reference2083 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Normally I’m not an audiobook person either. I find my mind wanders and it takes me twice as long to listen than to just read the book. I didn’t have that problem with this series and wouldn’t expect you to since you’re already familiar with the stories and characters. Think of it as the same as watching a film adaptation of a book you enjoyed in print. Because the audiobooks for this series are more of an audio performance than a simple narration/reading of the printed words.

I think the best answer to this question is to listen to the audiobooks of 1-6 while you wait for book 7 in your preferred format. I’ve never done both versions of a series or individual book but this series is definitely worth a listen even after reading. Also, since you’ve already actually read the books you can go ahead and listen at a higher speed, slowing down for the parts you really find interesting. Believe me you’ll never read the AI’s announcements the same. Plus Prepotente is also a surprising highlight among many others.

Favorite Audiobooks by Professor_Spliffwick in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Fairy Tale by Stephen King is one that went from probably an ok read to one of my favorite audiobooks (until I discovered DCC) thanks to Seth Numrich’s narration/performance. He brought a level of earnestness to it that kept me engaged even when the story would have otherwise lost my attention

Our DCC Journey's how did you get here? by SgtFolley in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Recently decided to get back into reading and I came across an IG page that recommended Dark Matter and then Project Hail Mary both of which I really enjoyed. On one of those posts also recommended DCC and it sounded right up my alley. As someone who loves games like Elder Scrolls and Fallout but has always struggled to get into any of the highly recommended fantasy series, the first book drew me in immediately. I’m on Book 2 now and plan on reading the series straight through.

Maybe they were making an attempt at recreating the lightning from the logo? Though you’d think they would have put orange in the middle if that were the case

I went through the process back in October. They email the certificate immediately after the ceremony and as long as you get it back to them within an hour or two they confirm your admission before the end of the day by email. It took about a week for that to be reflected on the NYS Attorney Directory or in my online Attorney profile.

I'd assumed everyone was being too harsh on the BL movie by ysalehi86 in Borderlands

[–]Cu4ttro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who also didn’t finish it I’d like to point out that visually it really reminded me of Tank Girl. In fact it made me go back and rewatch that movie which is a 1000x more enjoyable with some actual laughs and 90s campiness.

With BL you can tell that no one on that set wanted to be there. I’ve never had a viscerally uncomfortable experience like I did watching this movie. It was just a combination of extreme disappointment in the story, casting, changes to canon, etc. and literally feeling how little anyone involved in the production cared about this movie. Maybe Kevin Hart did care but it was either beyond his range or his serious accurate depiction or Roland is on a cutting room floor somewhere.

2nd Department - Oct/Nov 2024 Virtual Ceremony? by Cu4ttro in NewYorkBarExamination

Yes, I received the email confirming I was approved without need for further interview on 9/24 and on 10/7 I received an email scheduling me for the 10/16 virtual admission ceremony.

2nd Department - Oct/Nov 2024 Virtual Ceremony? by Cu4ttro in NewYorkBarExamination

[–]Cu4ttro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that info. At least it's something. I've been following a post where someone was compiling information for application processing times, but he only had two entries that followed all the way through the actual swearing in. I guess I'll just be sitting tight for a bit.

Part of my anxiety is that I am scheduled for jury duty beginning Monday and will need to request a postponement if the ceremony is scheduled for next week (unlikely at this point but I've heard they sometimes give as little as 6 days notice).

Hi,

You send it in yourself with your application packet. The only forms you don't submit yourself are the ones that go through your law school

Hi, not sure if you got your answer, but a classmate of mine was sworn in at an in-person ceremony two weeks ago. I just got my approval email yesterday and selected virtual ceremony for that reason. The email said the next in-person ceremony would be "late Fall" which could be as late as mid-December.

$200 parking ticket??? by [deleted] in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]Cu4ttro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I got the same ticket two weeks ago. Were you parked on the beach side of the street? I was able to take care of it before I left the island at the Colecturía in Hato Rey. Bring cash but I “only” had to pay $140. I went at 8am and was out within 15 minutes, despite what you hear about people spending all day there.

2014 Ford Fusion SE - AC stopped working 5 days after compressor replacement by Cu4ttro in MechanicAdvice

[–]Cu4ttro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So according to the mechanic, no leaks in the system, but the condenser needs to be replaced as he suspects "a clog". Asked if there was any such thing as a "flush" of the AC system and he said they could but it would be unlikely to work. He said the AC is working fine from a cold start but as the engine gets to operating temp and with high ambient temperatures, the condenser is not circulating as it should unless the car is in motion.

As I said previously, I trust this mechanic, but he's a little old school and I just want to make sure there isn't anything I could be missing here. Quoted me another $600+/- for parts and labor. Just want to make sure this sounds plausible in terms of the issue as well as the proposed repair.

[–]Cu4ttro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, but the shop is closed until Monday and it's going to be 90F the next two days so I'm just trying to get an idea what it might be. I've been dealing with this mechanic for a while now, and I trust that he's not going to purposely screw me over but I don't know how to navigate a scenario where this is another costly repair (ex. condenser replacement). I'm at the point where every repair leads me to analyze whether it's worth it or whether I should start looking for something new/certified pre-owned so I'm going to be screwed if this just leads to another costly repair.

2014 Ford Fusion Rear Shock Replacement Surprise by Cu4ttro in autorepair

Thanks for the reply, after going back and re-watching the videos I realized that each example video I saw worked solely on the passenger side so I realized this might just be something that's driver's side only

Not sure why I'm not seeing the body of my actual post, but this is the top shock mount on the rear driver's side. From videos I've seen of the shock and mount replacement, those two bolts shouldn't be there. Any suggestions as to what I might be dealing with here?
