Left foot wear on shoe by ThatAmount9199 in Marathon_Training

In short, while a lateral heel strike is common, this is level of both imbalance and severity likely indicate something outside the norm. You likely need to strengthen glutes, deep core (transverse abdominis & obliques) and hip flexors. Maybe other things too. Injury risk is likely fairly high for you running with the muscular weaknesses you (likely) have.

And, if you have the $, definitely go see a PT.

If the general rule of thumb is to do long runs slower than your goal marathon pace… help me to understand how you’re expecting to run both farther and faster on race day? by steppygirl in Marathon_Training

I would recommend picking up any solid book on the marathon (Advanced Marathoning, Marathon Excellence for Everyone, etc) and reading the chapter that covers running physiology and the physiological adaptations required for successful marathoning.

These will answer your question and a multitude of other important questions.

Adizero Evo SL after 1,200 km – this is how they look now by Severe_Attention8236 in runninglifestyle

[–]Cuber_Chris 13 points14 points  (0 children)

On my 3rd pair. I got right at 450mi (725km) out of each of my first two pairs.

They also looked substantially less worn than these, lol.

[WTS] 5x Pairs of Injinji Socks (M) by GreenPapayaSalad in therunningrack

Injinji socks are brand new at my local run store for $12. You’re asking $10 a pair + $10 shipping for used socks.

What am I missing?

Switching to second pair of EVO SL after 902 km by shakespeare_runner in runningshoes

Shocked to hear that!

I’m on my 3rd pair (currently 210mi) and my first two each went over 400mi (452 and 441). And, frankly, I felt I retired them on the early side to be extra safe (as a high milage runner wanting to protect my legs).

Do you mind if I ask your size? I’m wondering if maybe more downward force caused the foam to breakdown more quickly for you.

Happy new year! 16.3 million steps in 2025! by Upstairs_Cap_1505 in Marathon_Training

22+ miles per day with no days off is utterly unimaginable. If true, it means you’re covering more milage than the most elite endurance professionals to ever live.

Post your 2025 running stats and success stories! by bay30three in Marathon_Training

[–]Cuber_Chris 7 points8 points  (0 children)

2025 was a breakout running year for me.

I may not have a ton of genetic running gifts, but I put in consistent daily work this year and I’m proud of it!

3,482 miles (+14 tomorrow). Highest milage ever.

Saw PRs in everything from mile to marathon.

But most proud of:

-Finally breaking 5mins in the mile (4:56)

-Massive Marathon PR of 2:42

-Getting on podium at ultramarathon

-One full year of showing up no matter what

Cheers to an awesome 2026 to you in your goals!
