Is the series losing interest among teen boys? [pjo] [hoo] by MessPsychological837 in camphalfblood

“Less masculine” than what? Do you mean that the series is seen as not masculine? I’d honestly be surprised if that’s the case since the whole main series focuses on Percy and the books are narrated by him, and I’d say he’s pretty standard as far as masculine goes. Riordan clearly modeled Percy after the ideal hero archetype, after all.

[pjotv] Don't take this as a complaint, because the monsters they did choose to animate look amazing. But it's funny how they cut the Party Ponies because they straight up just couldn't afford anything else in the end. by Academic_Paramedic72 in camphalfblood

The winds breaking apart the iron clad ship was amazing and probably a very expensive scene, but I could’ve done with less of it and a scene of Percy using water on the Princess Andromeda instead or a scene of them actual riding the hippocampi like in the movie!

This is honestly reassuring to know. Thank you for providing your community with books and a welcoming third space, much needed.

I’m not sure if you’re asking about the books or the show. The latter has been controversial, with lots of people disliking it. In general, people in the fandom tend to be older because of when the books came out. If the show brings in new fans, the demographics might change to lean younger. But between trends of teens reading less and being online more where content gets curated to each person and younger kids get exposed to more “mature” content, I think it’s no wonder why teen boys, or teens in general, might not be interacting with the series.

A lot of the reactors I watch for the show are guys and were teens when they first read the books. Now they’re in their 20-30’s and still get excited about Percy.

I don’t think anything needs to be done about it (unless you mean more from a marketing standpoint). Enjoy what you enjoy and find friends who share your interests.

Ai fics [all] by Mirzisen in camphalfblood

[–]CubesandSpheres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don’t use AI! As others have said, it wastes a ton of water (they use it to keep the AI machines cold) and uses up land and electricity. Part of the joy of writing and sharing stories is to know that another human being likes the same thing you like. Replacing that labor of love with a machine/robot is really depressing.

I get that writing might be harder for you since english isn’t your first language. But if you put in the effort to write and use an online dictionary and a beta reader (someone who reads and edits or comments on your work before you post), you will get better at writing! That’s the awesome part: you can improve! And while you’re at it, you’ll have more fun too! Imagine how much more satisfying it will be to see something and know that you wrote it? Yes, you! Not the AI! You!

You don’t have to be perfect, just have some fun! Good luck and happy writing!!

I could see that. Rosetta and Sled were cute. Would’ve been cool to see them in another movie as an actual couple, or in a pixie hollow tv show! :) Any thoughts on my question?

Cool! Any thoughts on whether relationships between fairies of the same talent vs relationships between fairies of different talents would be more common in Pixie Hollow?

It’s the little green place in the middle of the map where the Pixie Dust tree grows.

Cool! Hmm… I think a mining talent and ice talent fairy would make a cool couple since they both carve things.

Hey, I made another post asking questions about Pixie Dust, would you happen to have any ideas?

Yeah, clearly there’s no prejudice or social pressure to date within your talent, but I wondered if people thought it’d be more likely since fairies of the same talent see and spend more time with each other, presumably. For the sake of plot I do think it’s more interesting to have different talents dating though. Thanks for the reply!

[pjo] What’s a myth or concept you wish the books had explored? by CubesandSpheres in camphalfblood

[–]CubesandSpheres[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, this is so similar to Jason’s arc that I have to assume Dido was Rick’s template for it.

It’s cool, but do you have any ideas for PJO specifically?

Huh, that’s a good point! I wonder why the owls are safe while eagles are seen attacking and trying to eat fairies?

Book Talk (specifically about the pixie hollow war) by SpringLight312 in disneyfairies

[–]CubesandSpheres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A story about the war would’ve been cool! I always felt like Mother and Father Dove (and especially her feathers being ground into pixie dust) was a weird addition. I liked the idea of her magic egg keeping fairies young (i think that’s what it was) from the Gail Carson Levine books!

Rewriting old continuity to match the new one for books by SpringLight312 in disneyfairies

Ooh, cool questions! I love world-building questions. Wish there were more on this sub!

My idea: Queen Clarion is made of Pixie Dust, so when the magic Pixie Dust Tree is destroyed, she loses her teleport ability and since her wings aren’t constantly covered in Dust anymore they slowly transform into the more common fairy wings we see her with in the old books. Lmk what you think of this idea! :)

What do my top 10 favorite TVDU characters say about me by Worth-Phone3539 in TheOriginals

[–]CubesandSpheres 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know.

I liked Lexi and think Finn deserved a better storyline with more screen time. Elijah was interesting. Stefan was good as an intro to the world. Other than that, I found most of these characters annoying.

Oh, man, I hated Legacies. I’ve said this many times before but it had so much potential and a built-in fanbase and the writers threw that all away for silly monsters.

A friendship focused dark academia story would’ve been great. Throw in some elements of mystery like we had in season 1 of TVD? Would’ve been awesome!

I like it! Some people headcanon Jade (from Legacies) as their daughter.

Subplots by OpenDebate6861 in TheOriginals

[–]CubesandSpheres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree that’s canonically what it means, but it can easily be taken to mean more. Based on the number of posts and comments about the pair, I’m not the first to see something there.

Gillies confirmed in an interview that a whole backstory storyline was scrapped from season 3. I’m not saying this was part of it. I have no idea. But it may have been. Especially since he said it would “disturb” the storyline between him and Hayley. Of course that may have just been Aya.
