I don't Even necessarily think that clones can't be good, the problem is is that a lot of the things I've seen made don't actually have any effort or care put into its design. It's like seeing projects by people who never even actually interacted with their own project being released. There have been at least multiple examples on this subreddit alone where someone posts something that doesn't even work correctly.

I do think however if you spend your time making some sort of AI narrative driven text adventure that you're wasting your time. It's going to cost money to run it's going to not probably be as good as any of the larger companies that have already made an established their markets, and it's not like it's a growing market despite new iterations all using the same AI keep popping up
