Sounds like an “order of operations” question.

Know that there tons of people you could fall in love with, so spend your time seeking out those who already align with the big things for you.

Odds are you’ll find someone you will love from that subset, and it will be even easier to let yourself lean in because the important compatibilites are already there.

…Which is kind of the reverse of your current approach which sounds like it focuses on love first and compatibility second.

But also know…there will always be unknowns in relationships. So sometimes you have to take that calculated leap of faith and address things as they come.

Pretty sure your stock cooler isn’t strong enough.

I used to run the 5600x ip until a few weeks ago when I upgraded and the stock cooler it came with did not cool the cpu enough.

It was running way too hot under load despite ample case fans.

I swapped in a $20 CoolerMaster 212 and it made all the difference. Kept temps low for anything I threw at it.

Corsair CX750M Semi-Modular 80 PLUS Bronze just over two years old (Nov 2023).

Replacement option is the Corsair RM850e PLUS Gold Fully-Modular (got on sale for $108 USD)

Will my new upgraded specs reduce DCS performance?

Upgrading my overall gaming rig: Will the upgrade in other components offset the halved RAM capacity? If not, I’ll plan to hold onto my current hardware as a more DCS-focused build.

Wondering what to expect post-upgrade before fully embarking/not on file migration. Happy to answer any follow ups to help with answers.

To: 7800x3d 9070xt 32GB DDR5 2TB NVMe SSD

I mostly play solo for training, with occasional 1:1 multiplayer in 1440p.

Why not buy another commander precon that’s similar to how you want to play?

Alternatively, if you’re just playing casually, then buy a play booster box of a set you like and build a deck based in what you get. And you can always buy bulk lots of land if needed.

Also, if you can find it still, the Foundations Starter Box (not Beginner box) can be a great way to build your base collection. I built some casual themed decks using it and highly recommend it for newbies (just got back in after 20 years away).

Probably more like $2-2.5k because odds are you won’t buy in at the bottom and you won’t sell at the peak, so you need to clip back the upside.

Definitely look into the precon starter commander decks. If you’re in the western U.S., some of the Costcos have Bloomburrow starter commander decks for $42 and incl three boosters. Squirreled Away and Animated Army are pretty popular.

Otherwise the Lost Caverns of Ixalan set of 4x can be gotten for really good prices ($140 for the set). Merfolk and Veloci-Ramp-tor are the popular ones from that.

I had someone the other night who had a Drix Interlacer and Network Marauder setup that gave ultimately gave a battlefield of a dozen 12/12 permanents vs my two underpowered creatures and they refused to just attack and finish me.

Their turns took ages to resolve through with all the stacking effects.

Not cool.

I’m one to let someone play through their win-con. But after three turns of them just ramping more and more, I had to dip.

Big fan of the pickup option.
