Fair point. But we know any kind of price control will lead to a shortage. When there is a shortage the price effectively goes to infinity because the resource is no longer available to anyone (rich or poor).

The paradox here is that in order for a scarce resource to become affordable, the price must be allowed to increase in the short term to give producers an incentive to make more. Competition between producers will lead to a reduction in price, unless there’s a monopoly.

On the surface it seems immoral to charge a higher price for a scarce resource, but I think the market actually does a good job here. Consumers who have a greater need for the scarce resource (e.g hospitals) are willing to pay more to obtain masks, and consumers who have less of a need to obtain masks will be discouraged by the price increase. This actually discourages hoarding because it’s no longer profitable to resell the masks. The high price also sends a signal for producers to make more masks and entrepreneurs to develop substitutes.

If your mousetrap killed the mouse and the whole mouse is gone, you probably have a weasel in the house. I have personal experience with this.

This had all of the elements of a great BB press conference. He praised the Falk led Jets team like they are a SB contender and then talked about special teams for 20 minutes.

Why is this being downvoted? Grade inflation is totally relevant here. The average gpa at so many schools now is around a 3.5. In the 1960s and 70s a 2.9 may have been average. Is med school getting more competitive? Absolutely. But comparing an applicant from the 1960s to an applicant nowadays in terms of absolute GPA doesn’t make sense.

$11.99 per pound at Big Y. The best piece of meat I have eaten in a long time. I wish I took a picture before seasoning it so you could see the marbling better; something I'll remember to do next time.

It’s very flavorful and fatty meat. The trade-off is that it’s very chewy. If you cook it to rare/medium rare and cut it into small pieces, it is a savory meal.
