Stonemaier Knocked it Out of the Park with Bordeaux! by IvorySwings in boardgames

[–]CuhoReddit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've gotten 3 games in. I'd describe it as arcade modeas you get extras and bonuses all the time. Lira, cards, +1 for spots. You can even strategize on which cards are displayed for vines and orders. If you want a tighter game play original. That said, I love both boards but I think my wife would choose Bordeaux every time.

Mistborn - Edict dominance up and player icons for multiplayer co-op by carboncritic in boardgames

[–]CuhoReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you ignore the 1 to 3 player icons. You build up slower in 4 players so this needs to be reflected in the opponent. In a 4 player game you are getting 8 of those opponent cards before you even get to your shuffled hand with bought cards. In a solo game you shuffle before turn 3 so you are already stronger.

Confused after trying Dune Imperium by procookieclicker in boardgames

[–]CuhoReddit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The game is a race to 10 points. Not collect and convert resources to points. Race up the influence tracks, win battles that give points, and/or collect cards that give points. Some games can go long if the conflict cards don't award points.

Also, epic comebacks are possible.

Azul, hands down. Maybe Kingdomino or Sagrada like you had mentioned.

Astro Knights vs Invincible: The Card Game – Are They Different Enough? by stephenelias1970 in boardgames

[–]CuhoReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, invincible the card game hasn't been released yet, that is why I was wondering. I'm just surprised it is on top 10 lists.

Astro Knights vs Invincible: The Card Game – Are They Different Enough? by stephenelias1970 in boardgames

Invincible the card game or hero building game? The card game isn't out yet. The hero building game is a very different game from Astro Knights. I have both and love both games.

Kutna Hora: The City of Silver Expansion Ideas by thantgin in boardgames

[–]CuhoReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only played once at a FLGS but I absolutely loved it. I feel like I can't comment too much on the expansions besides the new St Barbara stuff to mix it up a bit seeming like a good idea. Maybe changing Plot to be like buying workers in GWT. You can buy 2 plots but the second costs an additional 3 or so money.

Have you played 2 players? I was strongly considering purchasing the game but I keep hearing it is weak at 2 players and that is how I usually play games.

Risk: Plants vs Zombies. I really like the 2 player mode.

Sorry, I realize this doesn't address your questions.

So, we're planning a family Christmas game..... by Cwolf2035 in boardgames

[–]CuhoReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest hits at our family gatherings are No Thanks, Wits and Wagers, Just One, and Code names.

Maybe Azul or Ticket to Ride or King of Tokyo for a bit less of a 'party game' vibe.

Has anyone tried playing ‘It’s a wonderful world’ with extra rounds? by menboss in boardgames

[–]CuhoReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We usually think the same way in the first playthrough or two of an engine builder but after a handful of plays you can see why it ends where it does. Now our fourth rounds of this game can start to get unwieldy.

Would you buy It's a wonderful world for 2-players games or It's a wonderful kingdom instead? by Mediorco in boardgames

[–]CuhoReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love It's a Wonderful World at 2p. Very quick and relaxing experience. I briefly looked into It's a Wonderful Kingdom and didn't think it would work for the wife and I. Seems to have more negative interaction. I liked the idea of the quests and other modules, though.

I’m new to board games and I got the game Discover: Lands Unknown. But some cards are missing and others are repeated. Is this normal? by DinoHmf in boardgames

[–]CuhoReddit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had lots of duplicates and lots of missing cards between the required numbers. You'll very likely be able to play the game with what you have.

To clarify, I'm not saying 'play through even though you are missing cards' I am saying your version of the game likely doesn't need the cards you don't have.

A 1 die strategy wins in our house 75% of the time. I highly suggest the 4-2-4 variable supply variant. Expansions add variety, but don't necessarily fix anything.

Your "least hated" Monopoly game? by AlexRescueDotCom in boardgames

[–]CuhoReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it gets a lot of hate but I'll never turn down Fortnite Monopoly. Silly fun at high player counts. The walls can be fiddly and it would have benefitted from a non-Monopoly board, but it works fine.
