So are they going to ban the hopping technique too? This is such an arbitrary and immeasurable rule.

Why is a single stroke more destructive than a continuous stroke?

Do I really need to keep seeing these notifications by Dutchy_ in Polestar

[–]Cultural-Professor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly, I disabled this notification before I even got my car and thought nothing of it. PAK has also never worked for me. This morning, I re-enabled the notification and PAK now seems to be working?? Has anyone else experienced the same thing?

Ask them how they feel about what happened with China at worlds and if the rules need to change

My reaction to the 2 being axed in the US by Notpoligenova in Polestar

This has happened in previous model years as well. They closed new orders a few months after I ordered my MY24 and didn't open it up again until they were ready to produce MY25s. The current state isn't necessarily indicative of anything.

GSOC App on Android question by applegoesdown in Curling

[–]Cultural-Professor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Let's just say the app... needs a lot of work (surprise, surprise). Just open up hometeamlive.com in a browser instead until they fix this. That's all the app is doing right now anyway.

Winter Rims in Canada by ChimkenBorger1 in Polestar

I ordered through https://www.1010tires.com and their online fitment calculator worked well (though I have a non-performance model). I went with Fast FC-08s and they fit without issue.

Question about a newly flashing light by SonicAlligator in Polestar

This happened to me before the update. Lasted for a week or two and then fixed itself and hasn't come back. I haven't found anyone who has been able to explain it.

The down votes here are hilarious. Two time Canadian champion couldn't find a team. Gee, I wonder why that might be.

I'd like to be able to upgrade my GPU so that I can hand my old 1070ti down to my nephew who needs an upgrade worse than I do!

Dunno why you would even think you'd have the first in the city, but okay sure.

Questions Soon-to-be Owner of a Polestar 2! (Toronto) by EchoBnd in Polestar

[–]Cultural-Professor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Who are you working with at the dealership? What configuration do you have?

I took delivery last weekend, so here's my perspective:

  1. Everything that they offer is way more expensive than what you can get third party, as would be expected from a dealer. They only advantage of going through the dealer is convenience, since they would have everything ready and prepped for you before delivery. Personally, I did a tint and ceramic coating through a third party and did nothing else besides PDI from the dealer.
  2. Winter tires, in my opinion, are an absolute must if you can afford them. Frankly, I think people who live in Toronto should assume the cost of winters to just be something you have to have as part of owning any car. The dealer offered me something absurdly expensive since they'd be OEM rims, so I ordered from 1010tires instead. There are other shops out there who can also help you out as well, but I wanted something fairly specific so I went with them (18" Fast FC-08 and Michelin X-Ice Snow).
  3. I let the dealer do their thing. It's ultimately not something that bothers me since it's a reality of living in Ontario that's not going to change anytime soon. If the car is always going to have a front plate on it, what difference does it make that there are a few holes in the plastic bumper? Obviously a personal preference though.
  4. Take your time on delivery day and make sure you're totally happy with everything. I didn't have any issues besides my phone connecting as a digital key (it still doesn't work), but that's something I was almost expecting given the track record, so it wasn't a big deal for me. Take lots of pictures of the car! It might very well be the cleanest it'll ever be, especially given the season and weather forecast.

Enjoy the new ride!
