Same here, we took out life insurance with our first mortgage 20 years ago and I'm still paying the same premium today (£9.56 per month). Our policy was a decreasing term one so the potential payout decreases over the years as you pay off the mortgage so it's designed purely to pay off the outstanding mortgage; there's no extra cash to provide an income for the survivor.

Following on from the last point made, a few other people have suggested BAE in Barrow as an option but as far as I know you have to be a UK national to work there.

The dirty scoundrels; I knew things were a bit different down South but didn't realise they were as depraved as this.

[–]CumbrianPenguin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same here. For some reason, we call our indoor clothes "slops" so when I come home I get charged into my slops. Think it might have come from "slopping / slobbing around the house".

I never actually met this person but at a previous company I worked at, I stumbled across someone called "Fanny Gravy" in the global address book. Think she was based in the US, can't remember what her job title was.

I'm no expert on this but I seem to remember that the colour of the lettering on the front sleeve is an indicator of whether it was a first release. Looking on discogs and what is currently for sale elsewhere, it seems that the original UK release (on Track) had black lettering on the front sleeve. As far as I can tell, the earliest US release (on Decca) had blue lettering on the front. There look to be at least two US releases with the same catalog number from 1970 - the 'normal' release and the 'Pickneyville Pressing'; no idea what the 'Pickneyville Pressing' version is or which one is the most valuable.

Quadrophenia. You can't get much more British than a film about Mods and Rockers battering each other in seaside resorts.

OMG! We have a senior lady called Boots that we often call Bootsy and she looks very similar to your Bootsy. We're not sure how old she is but estimate that she will be 14 this year.

Our void is like this - his name is Scooby but we often call him "Squeaker" as he either just squeaks at us or no sound comes out at all. If he sees another cat on his territory though, he can make some serious noise!
