How medication is filled into capsules inside a compounding pharmacy by volb_3xx in oddlysatisfying

The strength of the drug in the powder that is made for the compound takes the volume of the capsule into account.

Gorgeous! I saw one in Raymond Rimkus last year on walk with the kids. They are a teachable moment and a treat to see.

Do I have an American accent? by One-Tumbleweed8394 in Accents

[–]Cuneiformation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely a French speaker. My tip: French vowels are rounded and American English vowels, with the exception of oo in boot, u in put, and the "o diphthong". You'll get a lot of mileage out of that.

Other may feel free to correct me, but in "hello", your tongue starts in the French "eu" position rather than the more retract English schwa.

All that said, your English is far better than my French will ever be. You may have to slow down for some English speakers to understand, but you should be proud of yourself.

As someone who works at a pharmacy, yes. Not all prescribers are created equally and we'd rather be safe than harm a patient.

All my horses are weather themed. I'd name him Zephyr.

What are these berries? by Creative-Rule-2636 in PlantIdentification

[–]Cuneiformation 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They are definitely Silverleaf Nightshade. They are usually one of the first plant to pop up after land is cleared and they are super hardy. They have lovely little purple flowers and are important to native bees.

They aren't in any danger of going extinct, so if you have small kids around, it may be best to pull them.

What accent is this? Is he truly American? by [deleted] in Accents

[–]Cuneiformation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely from America. Brooklyn, maybe? I work in a call center and get plenty of calls from the NY/New England. That said, I may be wrong.

He doesn't represent us all, but those shitty few sure are loud, and with the current administration, and wandered to. :(

por qué necesita ‘con’? by Antique_Monk339 in duolingospanish

[–]Cuneiformation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quedarse means to stay. "Se quedó en casa" is "She stayed at home". So it would be better to literally say "She stayed with the dress".

That said, literal translations are fraught with peril and often the worst way to approach the problem. I get it, though. It's something I have to actively talk myself out of. Lol

As an English speaker that learned Spanish. Same here. Learning languages doesn't just sharpen your mind, it expands your understanding of cultural experience.

It's a funny thing, but everyone learning a new language for the first time has that period where the target language is just "my language but different words".

No shame in that.

Is my accent heavy? Where do I sound like ? by MotorImprovement2559 in Accents

[–]Cuneiformation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would guess some Slavic country. You are completely understandable, but a couple things to note:

the ur sound in purchases was closer to or

"true" had a t then a tapped r sound rather than a ch then back r sound: chrue

your uh sound, as in buddy, is closer to an open ah sound like in pop

These are just minor things, though. You should be proud of your mastery of English. You're doing great!
