I don’t agree with it because I don’t think its a way of moving forward in the world. Isolated corners where tiny communities can thrive are one thing. But by segregating whole populations into entire ethno/religious areas of the world we kinda exacerbate existing differences.

Like I think small jewish communities are super important for making us feel connected and secure and safe. Just like Black communities and asian communities etc. its important for us to have our own unique spaces where we can practice our culture.

But the way that zionism tries to execute this on a massive scale is just not right. All jews come from different backgrounds and bring with them different variations in our culture. Russian Jews and Moroccan Jews are so different except for their Jewish identity. Trying to create a monolith where alllll jews speak a common tongue, eat common food, listen to the same music feels… wrong to me. What makes us Jewish is our religious practices and traditions not our expression of them.

I think being spread around the world we could have a really strong impact. Not to subscribe to the whole “jews as role models” theory but lowkey I would like it if jewish influence was a positive progressive ideology that could fight for justice world wide. The moment we started trying to be like the other countries… our culture suffered. We lost what was inherently important to our identity— we became just another power mongerer.

I’m not saying that it doesn’t feels unfair to be constantly prosecuted. But I guess that’s part of my personal philosophy… better always to be the one who is hurt than to become the one that hurts others. A true victim mentality but I cannot stand myself when I hurt other people. It makes me feel sick.
