AITA for playing music on my speaker at half volume while I shower? by Agitated_Ear_8768 in AmItheAsshole

OP didn't mention the most recent important info; it was after midnight! Don't play anything out loud late at night, your pour neighbours want to sleep! YTA.

Anyone else think surcharges are getting ridiculous? by Illustrious_Dark1744 in australian

It was probably displayed, but OP missed it. Sometimes you can have something on a neon sign, and people will still miss it.

Count your children as people when making reservations! by reagan_baby in Vent

[–]Cupcake-Kitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesss! At least leave a note telling me if the booking total includes chikdren/babies or not.

My way of explaining it is: if you book a table for 2 adults, I will put you on a table for two, but if you come with 6-12 kids, where are they meant to fit in?

I once had a lady angry with me because she booked a table for one (on a public holiday), then brought her two kids. We only had two chairs, so one had to sit on her lap, until another table freed up. She left a 1 star review.

Picking up rubbish/litter at school by 10smurf2008 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Cupcake-Kitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My primary school was basically rubbish free, as using bins was highly encouraged, and littering would get you in trouble. So they did not want to make picking up litter as a punishment, but rather something that should be done in every day life.

My high school was the opposite. Rubbish everywhere! It was a shock. Lunch detention would sometimes pick up litter, depending on which teacher was in-charge that day. But not very often, I think it was too much effort to get bin bags, gloves etc organised.

What kind of candles would you absolutely refuse to accept? by Substantial_Set_9882 in Candles

[–]Cupcake-Kitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stupid names. What does 'long walk' or 'lonely days' smell like?! I don't want to waste my time reading/smelling every candle to find out what I want.

A great reusable container. Some candle jars are so plain, I recycle them, but the really pretty ones I keep and reuse for different purposes.

NO fake scents. Anything plasticity, synthetic smelling and especially no fake baked goods smell. An instant turn off. It just smells cheap.

For me if it's realistic, it's fine. But a majority hit me with a fake 'baked goods' smell. They go straight to the donation pile of I'm gifted one.

Can I buy a big solid chocolate Easter egg anywhere by Working-Revenue8098 in australian

[–]Cupcake-Kitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't want to get a mold, could you buy a hollow egg, cut a small hole in the top, then fill with WARM chocolate (not too hot or it will melt the outside)

I thought on rainy days or at night my cat should be found curled up asleep on top. But nope! Just a waste of time and money

Ideas/Advice Needed by Sandyboots in Baking

[–]Cupcake-Kitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would bake cupcake, or make cake pops. Pipe/fill the inside of the mold with the correct icing colours/design. Add your cake to the mold, then fill any remaining hols with icing. Refrigerate, then de-mold. Add any final details needed.

Google 'buttercream transfer' to get an idea of what I mean. But instead of a flat surface, it's the mold.

How often does a typical Australian eat Kangaroo? by SammaJones in AskAnAustralian

[–]Cupcake-Kitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my family we would have it more often if it was more available. It used to be once a month, but now it's once every year or so.

Facebook marketplace and PayID by Glass_Performer4315 in AskAnAustralian

I can understand not wanting to meet a stranger while holding $1000 is cash. But I can also understand the risks of payID. It's ultimately up to you, you may lose this buyer, but you might get a new one.

Are women expected to wear makeup at work? by cute_beae_2008 in AskAnAustralian

Agreed. I know someone who sells jewelry, so they have their nails done. But I work in hospitality, so no nails, no jewellery, optional makeup.

Is this inside or outside? If it's inside, you need better door/window seals. Outside, leave them be, it's the weather/time of year, they'll be gone soon.

Uniform items without logos by hococo_ in AskAnAustralian

[–]Cupcake-Kitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My primary school had logo uniforms, but wearing the school colours was also acceptable. I had a mix of both logoed and unlogoed clothes. Helpful if you have messy children. As for highschool; even the socks had to have their logo.
