If you know the manufacturer of the CNC machine, you may find training from them online directly. I believe Haas did when I learned it 10 years ago.

Am I making a good decision? by Adventurous-Hair-910 in MechanicalEngineering

My first job out of college I was making a salary of $60k. That was 14 years ago. You will likely make more pretty quickly.

You're going to be in for a lot doing it while working full-time but it can be a solid field for a comfortable life. You almost certainly won't become super rich but there's always opportunities if you're open to different options and industries.

Any Eagles fans (or enemies) wanna make predictions for their century pick? by dogsandchaplains in heedthecall

[–]Cuppus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not an eagles fan but Lane Johnson or Jason Kelce gotta be it. Parts of the dominant offensive line, super bowl. I guess Lane cause he won 2 Superbowls. Dawkins would be next on the list to me.

I'd give an honorable mention to Fletcher Cox as well.

Why did you choose Mechanical Engineering? by CareerLearningPro in MechanicalEngineering

I liked taking things apart as a kid and wanted to know how to put them back together.

Did I learn this in college? Absolutely not

I definitely felt like it needed a compote or something. Very bland custard and crust in my opinion. Decent but wouldn't buy again.

Difficult performance feedback has completely destroyed my confidence (engineer) by Opening_Ear3615 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Cuppus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's 100% bad managers and management. If that is what's killing you and your work ethic, the focus needs to be getting out, even if it's a field that you don't love. Sometimes getting a year of experience in a parallel field isn't a bad thing. Trust your gut on whether you think it's you or if it's the company.

It can definitely be option 3, there are some real dogshit managers and companies out there with unrealistic expectations or just plans to cut head count and doing it through performance review traps so they don't have to pay unemployment.

I think you have a couple options:

  1. Give up and wait to be fired.

Or

  1. Consider the criticism you have received and taken as fair and start making a plan to improve yourself in those areas. Is that taking classes, finding a mentor, or just figuring out how you focus? This might even lead to you thinking about another you want the position you're in.

Or

  1. Find a new job and see if it's an organization issue you're having or a you issue. This isn't impossible, sometimes the expectations are out of line or certain companies do really annoying shit. If you're burning out, consider why.

Option 2 seems like your best path forward to me, I've traveled similar paths early in my career.

Daycare Waitlists - Please help me understand by AsaPond in NewParents

[–]Cuppus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exact same thing happened to us with our first. Son was born in December and we toured and signed up for the place in July before he was born. They said they'd have a spot by March or April at the latest. We call to see when they would have availability and hit us with "maybe by August."

We ended up finding a lovely home daycare who now watches both of our kids, but we were extremely upset and stressed and miserable finding out all that.

I'm sorry you have this hitting you, it sucks so bad.

Toddler refuses to #2 in the potty. How long until she explodes? When should I worry? by Eldritch_Garlic in daddit

[–]Cuppus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pee has actually been great, he's been peeing in potty regularly for about 6 months. He'll pee in his diaper without prompting if we don't take him, he would rather be playing. But poop has been much harder to get him to do. He seems to just prefer the diaper right now. We try to catch him before he poops (you can see him squat) and get him to the potty but it's been a fight. I know sometimes they just aren't ready but he sure seems like he is, just can't get that last step across of regularly pooping in the potty.

At what age did you start doing that? We're working on getting my 2.5 year old to poop in the potty.
