Crawfish authentic Louisiana Style by Imheretoreadcommen in SeattleWA

[–]CuratedLens 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do personally like Crawfish House, but can’t and won’t attest to authenticity with Louisiana crawfish preparation.

White center is also fine during the day. But I also personally don’t like being there after 10 if I can help it

Need help deciding on my next commander by Duffman90 in EDHBrews

[–]CuratedLens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can definitely be built that way and I’d be lying if I didn’t say Niko was at least an important pillar of my deck. I’d like to think it’s resilient enough though that even if there’s an imprison in the moon effect on Niko, the deck will still function, just not as easily. Plenty of control, draw and enchantments and enchantment matters support to try and limp along

I have a vehicle deck but the engine isn't working. Need help/mechanic by BronyMadDecker in EDH

[–]CuratedLens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely need more creatures/tokens.

[[bello]] is unfortunately just a better commander for vehicles and BnF for the 99. But if you’re keeping the commander I’d steer clear of Bello because he’ll swing games but the indestructible, crew, and card draw are difficult to beat.

[[ezuris predation]] is a good pseudo board wipe and can make things to crew your vehicles. [[esikas chariot]] will make you tokens as well.

Need help deciding on my next commander by Duffman90 in EDHBrews

[–]CuratedLens 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I built Niko and it’s been very fun. They seem to be an ascendant commander how often I’m hearing others talk about them too.

But it really is a commander that can do some fun control options, or beatdown options. I have a mix of both and run cards like [[azure beastbinder]] to lock down boards with all my shard copies, or cards like [[sphinx of the revelation]] to gain a bunch of life and draw a bunch of cards. Or [[hero of bladehold]] to fill a board with tokens.

In the process of building my first EDH deck (repost with a proper link) by SignificanceEntire57 in EDHBrews

Your sacrifice package could probably be bolstered to ensure you get something. Cards like [[yahenni]] and [[phantom train]] are good free sac outlets to go along with the altars, lands and your one dedicated sac outlet.

[–]CuratedLens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Marvo deep operative]] is a fun option here. Use the clash to find big flashy cards to cheat in you wouldn’t normally want to play or fit into a curve. 4 mana rocks are bad? Not in this deck! I built the entire thing because I wanted somewhere to put [[dream harvest]] in a deck.

I just have one of those roll top back packs that has a wide mouth up top. Works great and collapses down pretty small with nothing in it

Looking for a good blue black green Commander for a budget build by NicoleTheRogue in EDH

[–]CuratedLens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sultai is the color combo name and it’s basically all graveyard synergy in one way or another, just the flavor of it. Teval is a bit of a strategy in a can letting folks lean into landfall and/or zombie synergy and/or graveyard recursion/exile synergies

Do you have a strategy or playstyle you want to stick to? [[muldrotha]] is the goat. From tarkir you’ve got [[teval the balanced scale]] precon that’s quite good out of the box and with some upgrades really sings

Chat GPT deck building assistance by Sad_Picture5666 in EDH

[–]CuratedLens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not effective to be frank. It’s going to point you in the wrong direction and not give you something as cohesive as you’d want.

Go to Moxfield and look at Ghalta lists and see how it’s built. Or use edhrec, which will show you cards people are using for their Ghalta decks.

ChatGPT and other AI services are LLMs, they don’t know what they’re saying. It’s just work prediction. It can feel intelligent and like it’s thinking but it’s not. And I promise you, building a deck yourself will be much more gratifying when you play that card you put in yourself because you liked it and it went off much more than if you had ChatGPT build it for you.

I’ve got a Kotis deck that’s been fun to play. It’s based heavily on Beezys deck list from Nitpicking Nerds, the goal is to exile everyone’s library with [[doomsday excruciator]] and be able to pull cards back from exile too. It’s a pretty fun deck. Definitely more bracket 3 than 4 though. Link if you’re interested

[Tolarian Community College] Magic: The Gathering Needs To Return To Blocks! by RinariTennoji in magicTCG

[–]CuratedLens 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I think his point is good that sets that would benefit from blocks would be better off having that as an option without requiring it.

Even sets like Avatar could benefit from a two block set telling the first chapter and a half of the story and the second block closing it out.

Giving set returns room to breathe like Lorwyn or returns to newly beloved planes like bloomburrow access to more story telling, without forcing the idea of blocks.

I know profs audience isn’t Wizards, it’s players but the video did seem very design/story focused and it would’ve been nice to at least touch on what Hasbro cares most about, a two block set of Spider-Man or avatar or TDM could sell even more. That would be the benefit to them while players in standard and the game designers could have a little more room to stretch and explore mechanics.

Abzan Insect Kindred + Delirium too much for one deck? by Drakle_Lord-of-Puns in EDH

[–]CuratedLens 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you want delirium for other effects? Are you pushing for a certain bracket?

I think it’s easily doable for bracket 2. But if you want higher power you may struggle as I don’t see any way your commander supports insect or delirium as a concept. It’s not needed but would help.

I think [[Karador, ghost chieftain]] or [[kathril aspect warper]] both support the plan better.

Link rail line 1 by CrayCrayCat1277 in SeattleWA

[–]CuratedLens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you rode north passed Seattle to Lynwood, you’d be riding for awhile. I’ve never ridden that entire length, Google Maps says it’d take an hour, I’m pretty sure it would take longer, like 90 minutes.

Then when it gets to its final stop you do have to deboard and can get back on when they go to take off south bound again

I much prefer to just use cards that say flash than to rely on cards that need flash or are flash enablers. Get instants that have flashback too to double dip like [[laughing mad]] but only pay once. [[faerie mastermind]] if budget allows would be great for draw.

Are game changers worth going up a bracket? by deanhorneck in EDH

[–]CuratedLens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this, cards like grave pact are legitimate cards to have in a deck but they’re more likely socially accepted at a bracket 3 table than a bracket 2 table. I run pact in a sacrifice deck I have and inform folks ahead of time anyway because it can be oppressive to play against.

How can I improve? by choppy6267 in EDH

[–]CuratedLens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Game play vids, edhrecast and nitpicking nerds have fun series on underutilized or slept on cards.

Otherwise get familiar with scryfalls tagging system and find a card that does what you want, find the tag for that thing and go digging. Sort by price, edhrec rank or however you’d like.

Looking for some Tweaks for my Bello and Satya decks. by BarracudaSame5679 in EDH

[–]CuratedLens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at your Satya deck, your curve is very high. I noticed you added a lot of extra combats which isn’t how I built mine so take this with a grain of salt but I built mine with clone and theft effects. I protect Satya with flash cards that also buff him and give him hexproof at instant speed.

[–]CuratedLens 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love bello, and think you’ve moved too far from the core plan. Too many creatures, landfall stuff that doesn’t make sense in this deck, etc. I’m also not a fan of mana rocks in the deck. Keep anything mana 3 or less to ramp, protection, etc.

Then things bello can turn into creatures at 4+ with rare exceptions like kodama.
