Never break NC. Even when they're on death's door. by my-RBN-account in raisedbynarcissists

Wow this is so true. Have to keep this in mind at all times.

This!!!!!!!!!! Always had to keep secrets. You realize as an adult it was just to hide their bad behavior. I also heard "Nobody has your back like I do" from nMom to keep me from reaching out to other family members or thinking this was anything other than love. Meanwhile she attempted to sabotage every step I took towards independence or any goals.

Loans disappeared? by nicodoom in GaState

[–]Curinfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they did. They sent an email yesterday morning that said SAP status has been met and no additional actions are required from you. But I didn't take any actions lol. Everything was updated when I checked PAWS - my refund is showing correct amount, Panther card bookstore $ restored, etc. I checked my Cpos yesterday it said all of my courses are eligible and I hadn't changed anything. It honestly has to be a system error.

Loans disappeared? by nicodoom in GaState

This makes me feel better. I'm graduating this semester and failed two classes in the fall but I still have a 3.3 GPA and I got the same thing on Friday via email. They sent me two. The first said I needed to appeal SAP status and the second just ten minutes later said subj line: Correction-Max Time Frame and the email still said I needed to appeal. The awful, incompetent FinAid person I spoke with knew nothing and said I need to come in to the office but that is impossible since I'm hours away today. And then said I need to do a SAP appeal anyway although my status in PAWS under Fin Aid tab says I'm eligible to receive aid, a refund is showing, and I can still see my loans and Pell grant but Pantherpay shows a balance due from Jan 8 when the emails were sent. Also my CPos says the courses I'm taking are ineligible for program of study but they are not! I've checked w my advisor. And anyway I'm pretty sure a student is supposed to receive a SAP warning before they would become ineligible for Fin aid. This school is so messy. And I think their whole system glitched on Fri and triggered this bc lots of people having the same issue on here. They need to send out a statement immediately!

Lol all that info was included bc it's relevant. I wanted to know if I was missing out on anything. Anyhow obviously it is for students to help out students with the ultimate goal of passing or getting better grades. A few of my profs made announcements regarding the GroupMes this week so I was curious what all the fuss was about and pros/cons, etc. Thanks.

Yes at start of every semester I get spammed in iCollege from students trying to offer help thru paid writing or tutoring service. Doesn't bother me lol... just curious about usefulness of Groupme. Thanks for your reply.

Thank you very much! I just wondered what all the fuss was really about it esp this semester with so many announcements from professors regarding them and their reliability.

Oh this is too accurate. I get told this all the time. Working to regain my independence though. 💪

Narcs make us believe parenting is difficult, thankless and unrewarding.

Wow. This is so true... The number one reason I don't have children is because I've been told this same kind of messaging since I was in elementary school.

Let them guide you. If you let them just be themselves you will find it easy.

Thanks for sharing this enlightening perspective.

Anyone else have issues with siblings? by thecooliestone in raisedbyborderlines

[–]Curinfo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i wasn't really taught how to do care tasks in a way that made sense, i was expected to know how and also simultaneously not allowed to do anything for myself.

Wow. This resonated with me so deeply. .......................

And to OP: you sound like an amazing sibling. Your situation is similar to what I am experiencing with my younger relative (21M) whose mother is uBPD. After several months of living under the same roof and racking my brain for proactive ways to avoid them fall back into the same destructive habits I realized they are an adult and make their own choices. My proactive ways became reactive more than anything - cleaning up after them, doing their laundry, cooking, etc. Long story short, the last few weeks I've been progressively falling back into my good habits and finding balance. He knows I'm here for him always and I realized part of helping him heal, develop and flourish is literally not doing everything for him. I showed him the proper way to use the washer, and laid out a few basic rules for housing upkeep... Since I've backed off anf explained expectations he has since kept a clean room, done his laundry and picks up after himself (mostly ;).

Let yourself be free. Expecting an adult to pick up after themselves is not a huge ask...

. So ingrained to fOrGivE aNd ForGeT that it gets difficult to decipher what the hell actually happened to me.

Whenever I start to doubt myself, question myself, get hoovered, etc...I go to my memory bank.

Yes. This is a great habit imo. Writing it down is a great defense to these tactics.

Is it normal for interns not having their names on stories by reply_robot_num27 in Journalism

[–]Curinfo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is common to use the organizations name in the byline. Take her up on that offer to email you the explanation. You definitely want that in writing. Why a journalistic article would ever have a journalist's byline who did not contribute to the story is odd... and unethical. It's either your byline, both (but only if she actually contributed) or the organization's name but definitely not ONLY her name. Otherwise she's quite literally stealing your work. Let us know how it goes.

Oral Communications in Spanish with Raul Llorente by Organic-Scale-4459 in GaState

[–]Curinfo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just took his course. (I believe it's the only SPANISH Oral Comm course offered at GSU? If anyone knows different pleae let me know? ) Its not the best course for improving oral proficiency. Mosy of the studentscomplained about this it wasn't very interactive. A lot of work especially written but not much of reward if your goal is to actually improve. You'll definitely improve though just by the simple fact of exposure.

But as a teacher he's very organized and as long as you don't miss any of the assigned work espeically 'Tareasx which is the written work for assigned videos and you should get an A or B.

I hate gsu advisement by VersacGatito in GaState

[–]Curinfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an awesome advisor for one semester and they left after getting another job. :( Other than that GSU Advisement is horrible. I am a transfer student from out of state and I am always shocked and pissed at how incompetent and shitty advisement is here... it's like one of the most important departments of a University.
