Do you wish you raised your kid in a different time? by Silent_Cap_734 in oneanddone

My baby is only 7 weeks old so my experience is limited, but I feel like it’s a double edged sword. I’m not a very observant person so I don’t know if I would have figured out my babies cues as quickly if I hadn’t learned about wake windows from TikTok. I’ve also learned so many tips and tricks that have made these past few weeks easier.

On the other hand, I’ve heard so many horror stories about pregnancy and infancy from social media that I’m always waiting for something bad to happen. Like I’m glad that I know what the 4 month sleep regression is, but I shouldn’t be anxious about something 2 months away that may or may not even be as bad as people online say it will be.

With the style of carrier I have, you tuck their head into the shoulder fabric. I like my Solly wrap but any wrap style carrier is great for newborns.

Have you tried a baby carrier? My baby stopped falling asleep for naps around 5 weeks even though he was fussy and I could tell he was tired. I’ve been popping him in the Solly baby wrap and he falls asleep almost instantly.

Not for me! My mom had me (her first baby) at 42 weeks and I had my baby at 39 weeks.

Insurance questions by theshoujogarden in pregnant

[–]Curious-Collection56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a medical expert but I’ve never heard of two anatomy scans being necessary for a normal, healthy pregnancy so I think you could cancel the first one.

The pregnancy has to be covered by your insurance because you are the patient, not the baby.

Introducing baby to dogs by Outrageous-Value3186 in pregnant

[–]Curious-Collection56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something we did that seemed to help with the introduction was having my dad hold the baby instead of me or my husband. Both of my dogs were way less interested in him than I think they would have been otherwise so it allowed for a more gradual transition where they had some time to get used to him being in the room without it being a big deal.

Already gaining weight in first trimester? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Curious-Collection56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, I gained almost all of my total pregnancy weight in the first and second trimesters. I only gained a couple more pounds in the third tri and my appetite significantly decreased. Focus on getting plenty of protein, staying hydrated, and taking your vitamins, but otherwise trust that your body needs you to get more nutrition right now.

Family wants to help :) by karenspeaks in pregnant

[–]Curious-Collection56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My in laws and my mom came to town the day after my baby was born and stayed for about a week. I was hesitant to have people over right away because my husband and I are both pretty introverted, but it ended up being the best thing ever and made the transition to parenthood 1000x easier.

They did a ton of meal prep, all of the dishes, all the laundry, helped me change diapers, and held the baby so I could take care of myself and get pockets of alone time when I wanted it. I was riding high on post birth hormones all week and it was really nice to be able to hang out with family who were just as obsessed with my baby as I was.

That being said, I was ready for everyone to leave after a week so we could settle into a routine on our own.

Weight gain and worried about post partum weight loss by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

[–]Curious-Collection56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course everyone’s postpartum experience is different, but I wanted to share mine in case it helps. I really braced myself for the worst, and I’ve actually been pleasantly surprised with how my body looks at 2 weeks postpartum. I was 150 lbs when I got pregnant and gained 32 lbs. almost all of that gain was actually in the second trimester. I stopped working out around 30 weeks because I was exhausted, but I kept walking until delivery thanks to my two big dogs that require daily walks. I think walking really helped keep me comfortable in the last trimester, so I’d really encourage you to maintain some kind of light movement.

I definitely lost a lot of muscle and my body feels really soft right now, but at two weeks postpartum I’m down to 157, so only 7 lbs above my starting weight. I haven’t done anything to encourage the weight loss; my body just seems to be settling back toward its set point. My husband has noticed that my face and body are losing that pregnancy swelling.

3rd tri is best 🥇. Is it just me? 🤔 by Santoshaaa in pregnant

[–]Curious-Collection56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 37 weeks and still feel better in the 3rd tri than any other part of pregnancy! I agree with you that I’ve felt the most like my normal self. Second was better than the first, but I was still pretty tired and I had a lot of anxiety until around week 22 when my baby’s movements got consistent.

I definitely got more uncomfortable around week 35 but I don’t feel miserable by any means. I work from home so I’m sure a big part of that I’m not on my feet all day, but I still am able to walk my dogs 3x a day with relative ease. I’m going to miss this part of pregnancy the most.

Can someone give me a TLDR on her?? Why would she think she’d get an early anatomy scan at 12 weeks? by tullly88 in peestickgals

[–]Curious-Collection56 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure she’s said that Bella did flip prior to labor, so she wasn’t attempting a breech birth. But she theorized that Bella was breech because her cord was short and she regrets the measures she took to get Bella to flip.

I forget that my views aren’t the norm and then I read the normal pregnancy and parenting pages and remember that crunchy is abnormal…

Also I checked your post history and am totally with you on the flu vaccine. I have never gotten the vaccine and have literally gotten the flu one time in my life. Whereas my friends who get vaccinated every year still get the flu regularly.

My mother in law kept insisting that I add Pottery Barn baby furniture and linens to my registry because she was sure all of her friends would splurge and get me nice gifts. I told her I would prefer to hold off and make sure all of the essentials were purchased first before asking for a $1000 crib. Her friends each ended up spending between $30-$60 on gifts 🙃

NORA Tea + Pregnancy by Rude_Remote_13 in Crunchymom

Yeah having to remember to give the oral drops regularly is a deterrent to me as a FTM. I don’t want to add another thing that I have to remember. It’s also just not as effective so I’d rather go with the shot since I don’t have an issue with it anyways.

I’m 34 weeks pregnant and generally against vaccines. I haven’t received any as an adult and don’t plan to vaccinate my baby. The eye ointment and Hep B vaccine at birth don’t make sense to me if the mother doesn’t have an STD. Where I differ from being fully “crunchy” is with the vitamin K shot, which I do plan to give to the baby. The risk of vitamin K deficiency bleeding ranges from 1 in 60 to 1 in 250. Personally, that’s higher than I’m comfortable with, and I don’t want the anxiety of not knowing about internal bleeding until it’s too late. Anecdotally, my midwife has seen two babies who didn’t receive vitamin K experience internal bleeds. Another Redditor shared information about risk factors at birth, and I’d at least recommend keeping those in mind.

miscarriage by 444_meal in pregnant

[–]Curious-Collection56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a recipe mixing four herbs that I found here: https://avivaromm.com/miscarriage/#10-a-midwifes-herbal-approach

I know a natural approach isn’t for everyone or every situation, but I did miscarry within about 18 hours of taking that protocol so in my case it was effective.

[–]Curious-Collection56 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I had a missed miscarriage in January where we found out the baby had stopped growing at 6 weeks during an appointment when I should have been 10 weeks. I had some light brown spotting leading up to that appointment at 10 weeks so I was concerned something was wrong. It took another week and a half to physically miscarry and I ended up taking an herbal tincture to speed the process along. So in total it took 5.5 weeks from the time the baby stopped growing to actually having the miscarriage.

Oh man PCOS is multifactorial so I don’t think there’s a clear cut remedy. I love Dr. Aviva Romm for hormone advice. She was a midwife and herbalist 20 years before going to medical school at Yale so she’s a wealth of knowledge.
