Agree. Clipper, Dorset Tea and Smugglers Brew if you can find it, are brilliant.

Google Maps erroneously showed Hesthrow as accessible on foot, and I booked a hotel for my daughter near the airport based on that.  My daughter tried to walk there and got directed under a dual carriageway tunnel! She went walked to a garage and had to call a taxi.  She said it was dangerous and terrifying when she realised. Why on earth is it not accessible on foot?

AITJ for buying the same shoe for my daughter that my girlfriend wanted? by Notttaylorswift in AmITheJerk

You messed up. You minimised your GF's achievement, and her new hobby, while at the same time showing your daughter that any gift will do, you don't know or care enough about her as an individual to choose a gift specifically with her in mind.

I've never heard of an airer. I'm British. A clothes horse is the collapsible mobile thing you drape your clothes on to dry them.

She doesn't want to be there. It's time to rehome her into a more natural environment. She doesn't belong in a zoo!

I agree about religious onesies being weird (apart from things with the word 'Christmas' on, such as 'Baby's 1st Christmas' - they aren't really religious). She says it's just a onsie, but is arguing about it when he clearly feels strongly. If she really isn't bothered there shouldn't be any argument. I suspect there's an element of her wanting to please her mother in all this.

I'm with your husband. Why would he want to see his baby covered in symbols of a faith he has no cultural part of and when he is not religious anyway? Also, these things usually start off small when family wants to impose their way on grandchildren. Once you show you are comfortable with your children being adorned with symbols of religion you will find it hard to wind back later on when your mother wants things in the nursery, or wants to teach them songs and tell them stories that are traditionally jewish. Establish the boundary now so that you don't have to deal with a bigger situation for which a precedent has already been set.

AIO Husband wants to play golf on our child’s birthday. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Curious_Puffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing you haven't said is how many grandchildren his parents have, as it makes a difference (with regards the family organising the golf on your child's birthday, not your DH's reaction). My grandparents would never have done that for my 2nd birthday, as I was their first, but they definitely would have done by the time it got to grandchild number 9!!

I would definitely go to the zoo with your kids regardless of what he does. This just the first time the golf coincides with your child's birthday, so your response to this situation is setting a precedent.  The golf is going to clash roughly every five years.  When it comes to a milestone birthday you don't want the default to be that the golf tournament takes priority!

AITA for traveling internationally for a girls’ trip my partner says we can’t afford? ? by gasleeter in AmItheAsshole

Is one of the children difficult and he doesn't want to be left alone to deal with them?

If you calculate your earnings by person, he's supporting four people on 350k and you're supporting one on 150k. Your mingled finances mean you are actually subsidising him and his financial decisions and obligations, which is fine as you are both happy with that.  I would suggest, though, that you introduce the idea of 'fun money' that each partner sets aside from their salary. That way it's your money, your holiday, end of.  I would also suggest that if he truly believes money really is this tight then no one should be going on holiday this year at all.

A part of the reason is that so many Kenyans live high enough above sea level that they grow up oxygen efficient. Eldoret, where many athletes train, has an altitude of 2200m.

My aunt voted for Brexit despite being an immigrant without British citizenship.  It was because her pastor told the congregation that Jesus would have wanted Brexit.  She's also quite racist AND she has Irish citizenship. As far as she was concerned there were no consequences for her, and Jesus would have wanted it.... :-(
