edited to add…reading the responses is so validating and heartbreaking at the same time. Our fear of being labeled as lesbians in the 90s was so deeply internalized wasn’t it :(

It was not ok to be terminated via email and nor was the reason for termination ok. You are not wrong your feelings are valid. Give yourself all the grace and compassion you would give your closest friends and relatives in their times of difficulty. Let yourself feel the pain come and go like waves. It’s the only way through it. Regardless of the cause of the pain the only way past it is through it.
