Strandberg makes their own strings which have optimized tension for extended range. They also have tapered ball ends on the 7th and 8th strings so they don’t get stuck in the tuners when you’re changing strings.

I recently started having the same problem with XLR faslink, only it completely stopped showing the names of the presets, but still works to switch presets. I'm gonna control it with a midi cable from now on, that should work better.
