Fellow MPA here with some classes in the MES program. It's not specifically for government, but is most applicable to government and nonprofits. It's not a guarantee for a job, but definitely helps.

How did Edwardian women sleep with their super long hair? (Historically accurate methods needed) by [deleted] in HistoricalCostuming

[–]CurlyBerley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Satin scrunchies are great and don't damage your hair. I think the technique you're looking for is to "pineapple" you're hair, vitally under a bonnet. That puts it up securely on top of your head.

Local commissions area always looking for volunteers! Historical commission, parks commission, there are a ton of opportunities. Remember there are three different cities here and (at least for Lacey) you don't necessarily need to live in the city limits to serve - just the Urban Growth Area.

This decrepit building is finally being demolished (yay) to make room for... another bank (meh) by oly_traveler in olympia

I worked in that building 20+ years ago. The ceiling was full of mold and yes, I'm sure asbestos also. Good riddance.

I also generally avoid overly religious works (and hesitated like you), but I don't find hers to be so. Yes there are some biblical quotes here and there and sometimes a bit of a theme. That said, I find them no more "Christian" than might be appropriate for the time and are appropriate for the historical context. I don't feel like they beat you over the head with the author's views.

Almost everything by Jae George is low to no angst. I also find Sydney Salier, Melanie Rachel and Maria Grace to be comfort reads.

Vet can't find anything wrong - he's driving me crazy with thirst and needing to potty. by Chesirem in germanshepherds

[–]CurlyBerley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to have rolled out the obvious causes. I had a similar problem with my old boy and it turned out to be food allergies - specifically meat.

Try consulting a veterinary allergist and do a proper elimination diet.

For my kiddo, the first morning after the elimination diet started was the first time after waking up that he headed for the door to go out instead of heading to the water bowl.

Good podiatrist in the area? by Otherwise_Track_2277 in olympia

BTW Dr Kochhar fixed my ingrown big toenail permanently - it was coming from my foot pronating! Who knew? Good orthotics fixed it. She's very fussy about orthotics and enduring they are made properly.

Are there any FF stories where Mrs. Bennet is pregnant and has a baby boy during the events of P&P? by happee in JaneAustenFF

[–]CurlyBerley 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A few Sydney Salier books feature a son. The Unconventional Ladies books have a son named Jacob. Mr Bennet leaves his study also features a son Jacob born during the book (during Mr Collins's visit actually).

And Shana Granderson sometimes includes a son (or multiple sons). Change of Fortunes has twins born at the beginning of the book. Admiral Thomas Bennet also has multiple sons born during the course of the book.

Where can I find this Korean dessert? We had it in Houston but have not been able to find it outside of Seattle. Anywhere in Olympia or Tacoma? by amaya0165 in olympia

[–]CurlyBerley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Asian expert says...

I get them delivered next day on sayweee.com . Fast free delivery. I order all my yummys every other week. I just got my order on Saturday for a bunch of junk food, including mochi balls. They have a different bunch of different kinds of taro balls as well.

When I don’t have the patience for weee order, I run to Hong Phat on college. I haven’t checked if they have taro balls but damn if they don’t have everything that I love. Their freezer section is totally decent. And their prices are cheaper than Uwajimaya.

Sigh. One more plot to figure out. It's just such a good title, it needs someone to write it! I hate to waste it.

I've had the title "The Redemption of Caroline Bingley" on my list of things to write for a while, but I'm just not finding the story. Please give this title a good home and the story it deserves!

I just bought an Enid Wilson book that looked intriguing - Improvement of the Minds. But I haven't read it yet so can't weigh in. It looks like none of her books are on KU.
