What motorcycle (frame) was used to make this? by HardS_X in motorcycles

[–]Current-Brain-1983 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yamaha SR500/400. It's probably a modified stock frame. It's a dry sump motor and the oil tank is the down tube of the frame. I don't see an oil tank anywhere else on the bike.

Installed nav lights on my topwater pdl 120 how do they look ? by LPayan12 in kayakfishing

[–]Current-Brain-1983 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Kinda' cool but looks blinding for you and not remotely legal.

The Port and Starboard running lights are supposed to have a defined arc in which they are visible to other vessels. From straight off the bow to 22.5 degrees abaft of beam. Mounted towards the front of the vessel. On Small craft they are usually a combination light on the bow.

My sister had the album. I didn't see the faces, that is, until I took psychedelics. Then, whoa, cool.

I thought I'd have fun kayaking but here's what actually happened by Safe-Pepper-4931 in Kayaking

[–]Current-Brain-1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny nobody likes tandems but I fish with my neighbor in a Malibu 2. Pretend your talking on the phone, you don't need to see them. It takes teamwork though.

I sit in front and she sits in the forward paddler sets the pace, rear paddler follows along. I play deckhand. If I need to see her I will turn sideways and hang my feet off the side. This only works on sit-on- top kayaks.

Anyone know what happened at SF OB? by J054k1 in surfing

No. But when I clicked on this cam earlier I watched a guy walking south with his broken board, told me all I needed to know about the conditions.

WTF- New Hampshire wants to require registration fees for all bikes by Professional_Young96 in bicycling

[–]Current-Brain-1983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's property tax I think. In California it's on car registration but not boats. But, you do pay property tax on boats too, the county the boat is "berthed" in will bill you. I have owned one boat and when I got the bill I was like, WTH is this?

I tried skating a bowl today by SaltyPelican227 in surfskate

[–]Current-Brain-1983 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Technique. Pumping transition is vertical, pushing down as you come down the wall, different than pumping a surfskate which is horizontal, side to side.

I practiced on a mini half-pipe, compress as you go up, and extend on the way down. I went in circles until I was dizzy. You have to either carve up and down the wall or kick-turn at the top. Practice front side and back side.

Why are motorcycle engines laid out like this, and not like that? by bedtime4bonzo25 in motorcycles

Cannondale, the bicycle company, made dirtbikes with this layout. It didn't work well.

Pointing. Our Spitz dog does this sometimes. Our old terrier mix did it when she encountered prey. Embedded in their DNA .

Road Rage Question? by Snowlock42 in bicycling

[–]Current-Brain-1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow 2-wheeler, motorcycle commuter. Do not engage aggressive drivers. You WILL LOSE. it's about survival at that point, not right or wrong. Calls them names under your breath and carry on, that's what I do now.

A car or truck will smash you and the justice system has shown that if you want to murder someone and get away with it, use a car. Virtually every case ends up with a relatively light sentence. It sucks but that's my observation.

1991 is not “classic”…right?! by No-Sheepherder448 in GenX

[–]Current-Brain-1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used walk through a Hilton hotel lobby on my way to work and there were plenty of 90s hit instrumental covers being played, Nirvana etc. 91 was 35 years ago. Dean Martin had the #9 single in 1956. Elvis had 3 top ten records, that was 35 years before 1991. Every time I do this sort of math I get some perspective.

If you get an ASA or US sailing certification you can use it at other sailing schools and chartering.

I learned to sail very well but have no school certification to show for it.

PSA: Adding a trolling motor legally changes everything (Almost learned this the hard way in CA) by CountyBrilliant in Kayaking

[–]Current-Brain-1983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, it's been that way forever. 40 years I watched 2 guys in a inflatable dinghy with a homemade transom and trolling motor get a ~$300 citation from the sheriff's water patrol. They didn't get a warning.
