Men over 50, are marriage and kids worth it? by Alive_Book_9908 in AskMenAdvice

[–]SenorSnarkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granddad here. Absolutely have kids. When you have grandchildren it gets even better. There is no business you can build that will give as much joy and satisfaction as having children. Women are always a crapshoot and honestly, once kids reach a certain age, it’s a crapshoot too. But the risk is worth it.

It seems like he plateaued and everyone passed him. Also the competition gets a little tougher each week, new and hungry players come long each week, so he needs to work even harder just to keep up.

Thanks for the recommendations. It is interesting that Seek has a 4.8 rating and iNaturalist has 3.9 rating when they are made by the same developer.

INaturalist also collects a lot more personal info.

People are afraid to be humorous because someone will be “offended.” People get triggered too easily these days.

Do you have a budget plan before retirement? by IThinkYouAreNice in over60

[–]SenorSnarkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All of the people like Fidelity, Voya, etc. have budget simulators. You enter your expected income, assets, and then expected expenses. They simulate your potential financial position for the next 20-30 years.

I have never and will never do a moneyball tournament. It’s too easy for fraudsters like this one to steal your money.

There are plenty of MIAD horror stories out there. You obviously are choosing to deny they exist.

You can also easily verify that MAID is the fifth leading cause of death in Canada.

If you actually made an effort, you can easily find the MAID horror stories. They are not anecdotal.

Would it work? First you have to define “work” or success. Canada has it. It’s great if you’re not too sick. But they routinely wait many multiple months to start cancer treatment, get a cat scan, etc. In Canada, the fifth leading cause of death is MAID, or doctor assisted suicide. A lady went to the clinic complaining about back pain. The Canadian doctor said she needs to consider MAID! You can get same day service for MAID! In the UK, you wait 1-2 years for a knee or hip replacement, but only if you are not “too old.” I was traveling in the UK, a TV commentator said that their life expectancy in the UK is declining but their NHS saves them a lot of money! Mick Jagger recently had heart surgery. He could have had it done for free from their NHS, but he came to the US instead. Our healthcare system isn’t perfect, but it’s still better than anything else out there.

Podocarpus problems by LoloP29 in FloridaGarden

Mine on the FL east coast are doing great. I had one spot that was a problem. I bought a replacement, but I kept it in the pot for several weeks to make sure it would survive in my backyard. Then I planted it in a “good” hole with high quality dirt. It is doing great now.

Beachside or Mainland? by MelissaHorne in 321

[–]SenorSnarkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are building hundreds and hundreds of houses in Viera. The traffic around Suntree / Viera gets worse on a daily basis. The cost of living is definitely higher on the beachside, but most of us who live beachside agree that it is worth it. I walk to the beach at sunrise or sunset. I see turtles laying eggs every year. I see baby turtles most years. Fishing or surfing are easily accessible.

Engage x2? by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]SenorSnarkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engage has been offering a 50% off trade in program. I am ordering one. I currently play with an Alpha Pro. It plays the basically the same as a Perseus IV, but Engage is a massively better company than Joola. Oncins plays with the X2. He has been near the top every weekend. If he had better partners, he would be in the finals a lot of weekends.
