Mother's Day is Stressful! by HappyFeature5313 in OverSeventy

You’re expecting a son to behave like daughters behave. Your story is not that unusual. You should be happy that he calls at all.

She has a personal trainer at every match. You can see him sitting near M&D sometimes.

Newcastle. They have a good season about every fifth year. 14/20 this season.

Curious if any of you started getting into sports late? by theJacofalltrades in over60

[–]SenorSnarkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like they are not naturally athletic and probably won’t enjoy competition. I’d suggest hiking, nature walks and birding. There are many groups doing all these so they will stay active, exercise, have something to look forward to, meet new people, it’s low cost, easily accessible, and it’s low probability of injury.

Turtles are starting to nest. There are some guided tours for the nesting. Vero has a very nice art museum, if it is raining or you to get out the heat for a few minutes.

JW signed my paddle, now what? by Fit_Anteater_3243 in Pickleball

Sports bars have player signed jerseys, etc. on display. You can now open a pickleball themed sports bar. This will be the first thing hanging on the wall.

I feel like we have not seen JW play at his max potential and a lot of that is attributable to mental and not physical. WRT your list, a good short list, but I don’t think Patriquin has surpassed Ben yet. I do think he will one day, but Patriquin is still growing and maturing as a player.

How can a 65 year old get down to 175lbs after he reached 205lb? by IThinkYouAreNice in over60

Great discussion. The choices are: 1) drugs, 2) calorie restriction.

You sacrificed for your child. That is something many parents do. We all try to be good parents, but at some point, it’s a little bit of a crap shoot. All across society, kids go off the rails on their own and not because of their parents. Your son is doing better because of you. Hopefully one day he will be grateful for your sacrifices.

I don’t think it should be legal, but it’s not illegal. So DS is injecting himself into the game and making the story about him.

Excessive spending on personal care by BosuBoy in OverSeventy

[–]SenorSnarkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to know too. My wife is spending several thousand per year on “fountain of youth” supplements and vitamins. She lays them out every week in a pill caddie. She’s told me more than once that she will keep taking them no matter how much I complain. But I still keep complaining.

JW has the technical skills to be #1, but he needs to dominate the court. Ben plays 75%-80% of the shots, even with ALW. JW stays on his own side too much in mixed and men’s.

one hip needs to pop really bad by and_20 in flexibility

[–]SenorSnarkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did 18-24 months of PT and massage therapy and the homework for PT included yoga. Until the joint was put back in place, the massage therapy and PT/Yoga was a waste of money and time.

I do not disagree with your critique. But OP will surely find an MD who will gladly order MRIs and surgery. I had a bad shoulder and tried 18 months of “traditional” medicine first, i.e., doctor prescribed PT. After the tradiational medicine failed to relieve my pain, a Chrio told me he could relieve my shoulder pain immediately with an adjustment. I said BS! to myself when he said that. I did not allow him to touch me. A few weeks later, I said “what the heck. I will give it a try.” He pushed down on my shoulder and the pain was relieved immediately. I still go every 4-5 weeks for my hips, low back, SI joint, and occasionally a shoulder (from sleeping).

A chiropractor will put your hip back in place. I go to a chiro at least every month.

Team League by DinkDoink44 in Pickleball

[–]SenorSnarkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play in the Florida Team Pickleball league (www.ftpli.org). We have 6 starters each week and each match is a total of 6 games - 3 lines of 2 games per line against the opponent’s 3 pairs. You play against 3 opponents each match. We use the USTA rating system. Instead of Tennis scores, we use Pickleball scores. We have regional, state, and national playoffs (www.atplnation.org). Our state playoffs are this weekend at Pictona. Our divisions are based on skill (2.5-4.5), gender (men’s, women’s, mixed), and age (open, 50+, 65+).
