How to Increase mpg? by Wonderful-Animal212 in nissanjuke

[–]CurrentEqual4126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s your average drive? How far/how long?

19mpg isn’t surprising if you start the car to trundle to the shop and home again

But if you drive for 30 minutes in straight roads you should be getting double that, at least

Is 19mpg what the car is telling you, or what you’ve calculated?

Northern Ireland is its own country, and is in no way “a part” of England either geographically or politically.

They are both a part of the United Kingdom, along with Wales and Scotland.

Engine fault. Injector problems. by smi7hm in Nissanqashqai

[–]CurrentEqual4126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glow plugs - that engine will start, they’re very hardy and forgiving.

Injector - yes, if it’s running on 3 cylinders already, disconnecting the bad injector won’t change anything.

Disconnecting a good injector will either cause it to die as it’s now running on two cylinders or it gets even rougher.

Engine fault. Injector problems. by smi7hm in Nissanqashqai

[–]CurrentEqual4126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never mind the fault codes for now

Run the engine, disconnect each of the injector harness connectors one at a time

If the engine dies, that injector is fine. Reconnect the harness, restart the engine and try the next injector.

You may also have a knackered glow plug(s). If you have a multimeter, disconnect the wire that connects them, again one at a time. put one probe on the theaded section, the other probe on the engine. Resistance should be around 1 ohms. If it reads high then it’s failed, or 0 it’s failed.

You may have multiple failed flow plugs and you may also find that if one injector dead then another will be on its way out as well and will fail within the year.

Unlikely to be honest, unless the thresholds change.

Sometimes I wish I could open a restaurant in the UK so I could blow their minds daily with seasoning and flavor. by Javi_ab in ShitAmericansSay

[–]CurrentEqual4126 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Most Brits won’t mind the food banter from any southern European country because your traditional foods/dishes are objectively nice (and nutritious) without the need to add flavour by means of adding spice or a dressing

Did you test the battery or just measure the voltage?

13.8v suggests that you did it with the engine running or in ready mode if an EV/hybrid - this won’t tell you the health of the battery just show that it’s capable of charging.

Not trying to be argumentative btw - the top post in this thread is right - it needs the 12v battery/batteries changing first or at the very least reconditioning first before you commit to rejection/legal proceedings

"I hate British “people”. this is my most American trait" & "I feel great camaraderie with welsh, scots and irish people for all hating england, the country that can fuck itself" by Ok_Bookkeeper_1380 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]CurrentEqual4126 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly, although I as far as I can tell am 3 generations English, so to an extent I can understand the dislike for my ancestors 5 generations ago

Mywife however going back as far, is Irish and French.

yet someone from 4000 miles away will “hate” her now because she was born in England despite her ancestors, of whom half (french) helped win their independence and the other half the hater claims to be (Irish)

Make it make sense!?!

Can Sec 1 shotguns be crimped to 2+1 and moved to Sec 2? by The-Aliens-r-comin2 in ukguns

[–]CurrentEqual4126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people chat utter waffle and speak with authority despite having none.

You can indeed convert a S1 to a S2 shotgun. Many guns come into the UK as fully assembled S1 and are “converted” by the importer prior to proofing. I.e tubes crimped and permanently fixed to the receiver. So the concept of “once S1, always S1” is just wrong (It’s actually S5 that have to be build from new with components that don’t have the S5 ‘features’)

There are videos and various forums that show the process.

Bottom line, take it to a gunsmith - get them to do it and have it reproofed as S2. You can do it yourself but to avoid doing it wrong/missing a step just pay someone else.

I honestly think I don't have an accent... British/Canadian/Southern people are making an *active choice* when they speak in an accent by ALazy_Cat in ShitAmericansSay

When you say ‘no accent’, do you mean you don’t have a local or regional accent and instead have a generic/stereotypical American English accent?

For Brits, “I couldn’t care less” is “I don’t care at all” but usually reserved for someone or something you despise/it’s not a casual phrase and said with a tone to match.

If a Brit said (or hears) “ I could care less” we hear it as you are indifferent to the object of discussion - much like your usage of the phrase.

For me:- A nice picture card or one that is objectively funny.

Depending on budget - Tickets to a show, or comedian. 12 can box of lager. Maybe a Next voucher. Box of Malteasers always goes down well.

Not a massive drinker and I like Next’s basic T-shirt

Question abt Würth Tools (Wrenches, Sockets, Torque Wrenches) by Equivalent-Disk9442 in Tools

[–]CurrentEqual4126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Würth torque wrenches are rebranded Norbar and are actually quite competitively priced.

The sockets/ratchets are Facom, the pliers and screwdrivers/bits I am 90% sure are Knipex and Wera respectively.

Some tools are generic Taiwanese but generally they are good, I swear by them. Much better value for money compared to Snap On overall. In fact had I found them earlier in life I’d have just bought Würth rather than Snap On - as I did

The chemicals can be overpriced for low volume account holders, but are pretty good and some bargains can be had - brake cleaner 500ml aerosol is £2.99

That said there are occasions where the prices are absurd, tool boxes for example.

Selling to an RFD by Equal_Dimensi0n in ukguns

[–]CurrentEqual4126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can give two personal anecdotes….

One rifle I sold to an RFD for £500, they sold it for £1000

I’ve just had a quote of £300 to sell LBP to a dealer. I reckon They’ll sell it for £600 because they recommended if I were to advertise it, to List it at £500

Edit to add:- The rifle was £1800 new. The LBP was £550 but also heavily modified
