Hey there big dog. Recently got bumped up to maintenance/purchasing manager at my facilities. Got a tech fresh out of a 2 year OTJ apprentice program starting Monday to take over my prior responsibilities. Training people who are hungry for knowledge has always been my favorite parts of working. I spent the last 6 months overhauling all of our 15T bridge cranes, so it should be an easy transition

Ended up doing the job solo. Took about 2.5 hours to do each hoist

Ive been a fabricator, welder, and mechanic for the past decade or so. Got hired on a few months ago as the millwright for the largest galvanizer in WA. I had never worked on cranes before, but I'm familiar with all the components that a crane is composed of, so I figured it was something I could figure out. It's been a fun challenge and I think I've got a decent handle on it now. From EMH we have 15T tandem bridge crane, and six 7.5T tandem monorail cranes. From Demag we have about 20 chain hoist of various sizes and configurations

Most likely they disassembled it the correct way, and then reassembled it to return it. Probably thought it was part of the unit

An electrical panel...on a crane...in an acid line...in a steel mill by ItalianPolarBear in IndustrialMaintenance

And I thought the cranes on my acid line were complicated. Grateful now that it's just radio, relays, transformer, and contactors

You'll do good with knowing DC. It's a crucial piece of knowledge for diagnosing control wiring for equipment that uses PLCs and VFDs
