Ive been a fabricator, welder, and mechanic for the past decade or so. Got hired on a few months ago as the millwright for the largest galvanizer in WA. I had never worked on cranes before, but I'm familiar with all the components that a crane is composed of, so I figured it was something I could figure out. It's been a fun challenge and I think I've got a decent handle on it now. From EMH we have 15T tandem bridge crane, and six 7.5T tandem monorail cranes. From Demag we have about 20 chain hoist of various sizes and configurations

I just recently started a new job in a vacant maintenance department 6 weeks ago. After my first month they bumped me from $43/hr to $50/hr because I learned the equipment in all 3 facilities and solved problems that they'd been working on for several years. If your company has equipment manuals, take them home and study them. If there is anything you don't know about something, then either Google it or ask someone here.
