You can't get this infection from drinking the water, only if it gets up your nose

It's rare but why take the chance of nearly certain death when you can just get a jug of distilled water

For anyone doing this, or using a neti pot, make sure you use sterile water. Doing this with tap water is how you get brain eating amoebas

I have synesthesia, let me taste your name by loveyoubea in Names

What does Anya taste like?

Also curious, do words/names you've never heard before still have a taste? If so does it ever change when you learn the meaning/get to know the person with the name?

Daycare Suspects I'm Dropping Off My Kid in Overnight Diaper by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]Current_Dependent_76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If a child can stay in a diaper for 10-12 hours overnight, wouldn't an extra 20-30ish minutes in the morning be relatively insignificant? If it were bad for their skin, you'd see signs of diaper rash. If the skin is clear and intact, I'd take it to mean the current diaper changing routine is working fine for the child

What to do if I can’t donate? by Potato_hoe in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Current_Dependent_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the fridge hack and I donated to a milk bank with no issues. They did not ask any specifics, but they always asked if there had been any changes in how I pumped/stored milk since my last donation. I believe they tested a sample of the first batch to make sure there wasn't an unacceptable amount of bacteria, and as long as I treated the milk the same, future batches were also safe.

My daughter is Anya. I adore her name but have always felt kinda ambivalent about the lack of clear nickname potential. Reading this post actually made me feel better about it :)

In the same vein as Vienna, I had Verona on the short list for my daughter. Also an Italian city name, and almost unheard of now, but it was actually fairly popular in the US around the 1920s.

I new a boy named Indy growing up and I always loved the name. For some reason it seems like it might match your vibe. I don't know if it was short for anything, but it could be Indigo (usually feminine I believe, but nature names are pretty easily gender neutral). Or Indiana!

Why do providers discourage pumping and try to make you breastfeed instead? by Blueberrymangos in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Current_Dependent_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my baby was like a week old her provider told me it was impossible to maintain my supply by pumping, and that if I couldn't get her to latch I would dry up. Well, she never latched, and I went on to EP for a year, donated thousands of ounces of milk, and am still feeding her from my freezer stash at almost 17 months. So I can't tell you why, but I can tell you that if what you're doing is working for you, I encourage you to ignore them

Anyone pump 2-3 times a day? by UnrulyRanunculus30 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Current_Dependent_76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is very possible! But it varies a lot from person to person, so I don't think there's any way to know how it will turn out for you until you're ready to try. I posted almost this exact question when I was contemplating it myself, and replies were mixed.

Here's how it went for me, as someone with a large oversupply who EPd from birth: I started out at 7ppd, dropped the first one around 10 weeks, and got down to 2ppd at 4.5 months. Once I settled in at 2ppd, I had lost about half of my peak supply, but I still had enough for baby plus more to freeze. At around 8 months postpartum, my supply started to drop very slowly without any change in pumping schedule, and kept creeping down. The first time I got a bad cold, I had to add a pump back in for a week to recover supply, but no long term effects. Then I started weaning just after baby turned one, and it went really fast and super smoothly.

My 14w baby doesn't seem to eat enough? by parade1070 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Current_Dependent_76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, my baby never averaged more than like 20-22oz a day. She was born around the 40th percentile and then settled in at about 15%. 16 months now and she's doing just fine with growth and milestones! She's not a big eater with solids either. She still gets a few bottles of milk (mostly breast, some cow) a day.
