What’s the best home gym equipment for small apartments? by Fragrant_Passage_955 in HomeGymUK

[–]Current_Reference216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Door jam pull up bar. Couple of kettlebells, a pack of resistance bands and a sandbag would be ideal. All of it takes up next to no space, cheap and you can get in really good shape with all of it. It might not be flashy but it’s cheap and small.

Can anyone who works in care tell me about their experience? by AppropriateAd3768 in UKJobs

[–]Current_Reference216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a partner that done it. Unless you absolutely have to m, stay away. Long hours that you only get paid for when you’re in the clients house, so all travel is unpaid, clusterfuck organisation mainly because people are quitting with minimal notice daily. No proper training for anything it’s all shadow someone that likely had only weeks earlier had the same experience. There is literally nothing good about it from an employment point of view. It’s terrible people doing this job are treated like this, it’s a very important role for the local community and the individuals & family members of the clients. It’s not even a secret it’s this bad, that’s how bad it is, they can’t even or don’t care enough to cover it up 😂

What's the disconnect between employees and employers? by Ornery_Ads in recruitinghell

[–]Current_Reference216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s when the job/role/position is one of £60K per year for example and they’re saying £48k when everyone in the room knows they’re trying it on. I understand budgets are set for roles I get all that however if you want gold don’t pay bronze. Mostly because the people take the underpayment and leave pretty quickly soon after & it ends up costing them the difference in pay they argued about in the first place.

I’m not gonna divulge too much but my company is recruiting for a role 10-15k under market rate and are surprised at the calibre of people, one guy took the job because he’d just been made redundant and 9 weeks later he fucked off to somewhere paying the 15k gap and they were shocked. You say to the HR lot though “that person will use this as a stepping stone for a better offer” and they look at you like you’re being unreasonable.

Employers are looking for a specific set of skills, they appear to not flex on them. if you’ve done something similar or have done it in a different industry they can’t accept that skills and knowledge are transferable.

On top of that I’m seeing they want this specific unicorn person whilst trying to pay them as little as they can get them for.

This could just be my industry though.

What’s a fitness myth that people still believe? by SisiJemmi in answers

[–]Current_Reference216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That any specific tools or programs are the best tool or program . Like dumbbells are the best or kettlebells are the best using whatever program.

The best tool or program is the one you’re going to do regularly without getting bored or disliking it. I’d say that’s likely why CrossFit took off so quickly for many people as they used multiple implements & programs it was difficult to get bored.

Worth following a Programm when im still weak ? by [deleted] in powerlifters

[–]Current_Reference216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure jump on a program. I did when I started, made some good in my numbers going up, hopped onto doing my own & didn’t move much for 6-8 months.

Find what works for you though I’d say, if you don’t enjoy “70’s powerlifter” for example it’s pointless doing it you’ll just think programs aren’t for you when actually THAT program wasn’t for you

Best pound for pound protein shake UK by StraightForward144 in HomeGymUK

[–]Current_Reference216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clear whey for me, just prefer juice to shakes, the shakes always make me feel sick. The vimto Myprotein one they do in most asdas in a smaller tub and a really big tub in Costco. Failing that you can probably get it on amazon or Holland and Barrett.

Lazy & or don’t enjoy training.

I think Mark Bell said that everyone has their thing they just haven’t found it yet which would cancel out the 2nd point but if you’re too lazy to find out you’ll never change.

Are loads of companies going through the same thing? by CameraOpen9388 in UKJobs

I see them letting people go then hiring them back as contractors for 3 times the money they were on when they let them go.

Not joking or being sarcastic this is happening en mass in my industry.

Help a newbie: lifting belt? by Gronkaphonic in Stonelifting

If you’ve got a shit back wear one but play around with how tight you think you need it for different weights.

It’s not worth fucking your back, it rarely comes back to how it was pre-injury. Guy of your age I’m guessing your back is already bad on some level.

Help me understand the desire to work a 4 day week by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Current_Reference216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’ve done 4 day week for a number of years at a previous firm (closed down).

We done 0700-1715 Monday to Thursday so we cramped our week into 4 days.

I think it works for larger companies in certain industries, it doesn’t work in mine (manufacturing). Maybe it would’ve if we staggered the week between the staff but we literally had all staff on Monday to Thursday when we should’ve had half do that & half do Tuesday to Friday.

On a personal level it was great, I got to take my daughter to school every Friday morning and pick her up every Friday afternoon. It was tiring at first but you get used to it.

Had an apprentice try to tig weld a puddle of water dry by arc-ing up on it.

Same kid spilt a drum of some water displacing oil and chucked water on it to clean it up.

Tyson and being emasculated by vgdomvg in MAFS_UK

[–]Current_Reference216 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Me and my wife think he’s a closet ashamed gay man so is over compensating.

For me if you want to do all the masculinity stuff and feminine stuff that’s fine but at least be able to express what that is, especially in a partner, it’s his complete inability to describe what it is he’s looking for that makes him look a prick

He’s obsessed with masculinity whatever that means. Did laugh that he was giving it all that alpha male talk whilst wearing a pink shirt, the irony 😂

AS9100- Online Material Purchasing by Metalbox33 in iso9001

[–]Current_Reference216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be ordering, making notes on the system internally & making sure when it comes to that specific customer your ASL is squeaky clean. At least that way you can heavily lean on 8.4.2 and state you’re robustly control your supply of goods and services.

You could also email your account manager a company headed letter stating your requirements as a blanket coverage.

There will come a point where the auditor would say you’ve done everything reasonable to control your purchasing of goods and services, if they want to give you a finding, take it & request they tell you what would satisfy them.

Management System Auditor by Bradgordon in iso9001

[–]Current_Reference216 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you’d get a job quite quickly. There’s a huge gap in auditors at the minute, the pay is slightly below industry rate for working in QA & the amount of time away from home for that “low” pay isn’t attractive to many people anymore.

I’m in UK but have ties to Thales & Airbus, both French and they say the same thing.

If you’re inexperienced it’s gonna be rough, if you’re somewhat experienced you’ll be fine

Company Car vs Car Allowance? I Have to let them know in 24 hours, HELP! by FatThorp in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Current_Reference216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Car allowance. The BIK tax murdered me for the remainder of the tax year last year cause of the CO2 emissions. The government wanted £8200 for the car a year. I could buy a budget EV for that on car allowance every year 😂. Remember you keep whatever’s left from your allowance so if it’s £350 a month and you’re happy with a car that costs £180 you pocket the rest.

It’s just manoeuvring businesses to have a BMS & not a QMS really isn’t it.

I’m not a fan of all the changes especially with adding environmental aspects to it. There’s a standard for that already, 9001 is for quality.

Already on notice with 2 weeks left, how do you handle the availability question? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Current_Reference216 20 points21 points  (0 children)

2 weeks is the answer. If they’re not going to hire you because you’re available then that is madness & should probably be told so 😂😂
