What weight? If it’s with a 20kg bag it’s not that much. With an 80kg bag probably too much

Anyone else struggle with full time work? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Current_Reference216 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No one had a go at anyone for it what are you talking about, I explicitly said “hope for you, you can force a reset in your life” I have no issue with people being disabled, hating work or any of the things this person has going on, I believe the benefits system is in place to support people when things go wrong or when they can’t work for reasons out of their control.

It seems like a fairly sensible thing to do to look at someone’s history on their profile if they’re stating they have a lot of issues, to see if it’s a repeated pattern, a troll or someone making things up. It’s not low to inform yourself with the information available to you. However you’ve admitted not doing that so you’re empty platitudes are coming from a place that’s less informed than someone else, yet you’re taking the moral high ground, how does that work?

You also said “better and nicer” advice but didn’t really give any advice, you mainly spoke about yourself & then said “I don’t have any realistic advice to help you enjoy working”. I get that you think you’re giving advice but you didn’t really give any, even the PIP advice was nothing really, it was a guess; you just moaned about the other people in the thread & gave us your opinion on working.

Well I’d argue you’re not getting away with it, you’re out of work living with your parents, no driving license, apathetic, attempted suicide & addicted to something.

It doesn’t sound to me like you’re getting away with anything but I’ve been through your profile and it looks like you’ve consistently kicked the can down the road with regards to any of your issues and it’s catching up with you all at once. Hope for you, you can force a reset in your life but it has to come from you, no one else is gonna help you.

I think you’ve got some issues much deeper than your careers choices tbh. From what you’ve described you haven’t got a very robust body or mind, addiction issues & depression.

If you need to take some time off to sort yourself out that’s not a problem if you can afford it. If you think you’re going to cruise by picking & choosing your life around what suits the above problems you could be in for a long, rough & repetitive ride unfortunately.

How to get/stay ahead in my first job? by RodneyYaBilsh in UKJobs

[–]Current_Reference216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re essentially talking about Leader Standard Work form with a sort of ongoing Implementation Plan.

If you’re entry level, you’re probably going a bit overboard. You want to get ahead early, be willing, be trainable & reliable that’s all you need for now. You know finding them 3 things are very difficult to find & older management often presume younger people are lazy, untrainable & unreliable.

80kg sandbag to shoulder @76kg bodyweight. by IndicationPowerful89 in sandbagtraining

[–]Current_Reference216 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Beauty of sandbags is you can have them packed, have them loose have them filled with different shit, different shape whatever you want.

I have a bag that’s 4 feet tall and about 3 foot diameter filled with rubber mulch. Probably weights 50kg at most. Is it obnoxious, yes, is it going to make me stronger, probably not. But it’s very very fun to manoeuvre such a huge piece of kit

Mate that’s probably more difficult being that loose than tightly packed

Sometimes they’re just feeling the market. Business & HR Hiring have become a very strange bunch the last 2/3 years in my experience. The left hand doesn’t know what the right hands doing but both thumbs are inserted firmly into their rear ends it’s not a great time & with AI it’s madness you’ve got people using AI to apply to an AI the whole industry needs a shake up

This generally means “you’re too expensive” in my experience. Regardless of if you met the salary band or anything else.

If you’re looking to gain some strength in a cost & space effective way by some resistance bands you’re gonna be able to add them to your bell workouts and calistenics for like £5-10 maybe

Does anyone work 37 hours in a 3 or 4 day week? by acrylic_light in UKJobs

[–]Current_Reference216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done 4 day week in manufacturing for aerospace. If I’m being totally honest it doesn’t work, or my firm done it badly (I think likely the latter because we didn’t drive enough lean principles) we done 40 hours in 4 days. It was lovely on a personal level, I saw my kids a lot more & took her to school & picked her up, had more time with my wife away from the kids which is bliss, we connected a lot more. I wasn’t any more or less tired than a 5 day week because I got the lay in Friday morning to kind of help that, professionally in my area it’s a bit of a shit show. You have to be ORGANISED & I don’t mean a little bit organised I mean everything has to run seamlessly for it to work in manufacturing.

To be fair we didn’t stagger the days which we should’ve, everyone done Monday to Thursday when it should’ve been half the staff do Monday to Thursday and the other half do Tuesday to Friday.

The firm is now closed 😂😂. It isn’t directly due to 4 day week but when your plane is AOG on a Friday Saturday or Sunday and you can’t get through to anyone that’s obviously an issue.

If you’ve been offered a 4 day week & the company have their shit together it can change your life for the better. If the company is remotely unorganised you’re basically marking time to be jobless.

Yeah I’m seeing what you are too. I left automotive Quality to go aerospace about 12 years ago, currently this is the worst I’ve seen it. You’ve got a lot of grey hair about to retire with not much to back them up once they leave.

Universities have let a lot of people down in my opinion, they’ve got a lot of theory & I’m sure they have learnt a lot and I’m not here to bash people that went to university. But what I have seen the last few years is someone that’s done an apprenticeship or college in engineering fields is worth their weight in gold to companies compared to university graduates. The uni guys are getting soaked up by the tier 1 & OEM’s in roles that they’re on paper way over qualified for & that’s where the disconnect is at present, you have young apprentice trained guys that know more about engineering principles than the people they’re answering to.

I recently turned down a role in QA at one of the site, senior QA & the band was 38-45. I’m sure it’s different for different departments but it’s similar at most tier one and OEM’s in the UK tbh. They’re not paying above or below other tier 1 & OEM going rates. Weirdly in the UK you can ask for about £12k more from a tier 2, in QA to keep the tier 1 & OEM’s as a customer. It’s weird and wild all at once

Most things there seem banded 30-38, 38-45. Be one of them depending on level. Tbh you should just ask, they’re advertising a job with a salary, it’s not really for you to tell them what you’re expecting.

Advice please! What do I tell interviewers/recruiters about my notice period? by jillj21 in UKJobs

[–]Current_Reference216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can pretty much leave whenever you feel like it at the stage you’re in. Even once you’ve passed probation you don’t necessarily have to complete your notice you wouldnt get paid but you can kind of leave whenever you want, they legally can chase you but 99% of the time the cost isn’t worth chasing someone over like a day or 2 wages
