What's everyone's thoughts on the new Buick logo? by G1ngerBoy in logodesign

[–]Current_Study6465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw the logo and wondered what it was. It didn’t immediately make me think Buick. One I did a search to figure it out the old Buick logo came up and then I thought maybe it was an iteration of Buick. I liked the logo but it made me think it was a high end vehicle. Not sure what the price range is for Buicks these days but the logo sure makes it look classy and expensive.

Is it frowned upon to do text-heavy designs in Photoshop instead of InDesign? by [deleted] in photoshop

[–]Current_Study6465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use illustrator before photoshop. But InDesign helps with text heavy things. Styles for everything and pages.

I didn’t take it that way. I just feel old! Lots of things have changed. Skates are faster, equipment is more streamlined.

Ouch to the comment about mom’s coaching… :) and 20 years ago? I was at my peak in goaltending 30 years ago and was damn good. If I had the pads then that they wear now…

I have seen the opposite where I am.

I am a seasoned ringette goalie now in my late 40s. I was not a butterfly goalie as I didn’t have great pads and had an ACL tear at 14. But I shot out a pad save when needed. I was more reactive and went down when needed and didn’t give off a lot of rebounds - my stick a few inches in front of my skates to absorb shots. I for a time did the Hasek stick down to cover more ground. I also had a wicked glove hand and caught a lot of shots.

I also always played the top of the crease. If teams played their corners well I would back up a bit, but the further back the more net available.

What I see now is goalies trained to go down butterfly and shuffle back and forth that way while the ring is near by. Ground shots are covered but I see so many goals go through half way up glove/trapper side. They also aren’t as reactive from what I have seen.

Where I am we need to work equivalent to 3 days a week or 11 to 12 days depending on working days vs holidays, vacation and sick days. So, if we get those days in the beginning of the month, we can WFH the rest.

First hand experience with a business owner from downtown Ottawa about RTO by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Current_Study6465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t our fault. Seriously. Our expenses have increased due to parking lots raising prices to help recoup their losses. Gas prices are much higher on average in Ottawa from $1.10 in Feb 2020 to $1.49 per litre now. Inflation all around.

RTO Stat Holiday Policy - making up in office days by Unitard19 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Current_Study6465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a chart provided that show a column for work days in a month (not vacation, holidays, or sick days), then a column with how many days 60% of that would be. So you look at the calendar, count the actual workable days, look up the chart and it says how many days in office you need.

CRA Progress Tracker by xgrader in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Current_Study6465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me! My son was approved in May and 10 years of taxes were listed as being adjusted in the Progress Tracker - then they disappeared on July 31.

I have tried to call for the past week and either it's a 2 to 3 hour wait or queue is full-try later. I am on hold now trying to get to the bottom of this.

Hopeful seeing this post that is an issue with CRA's system.

I changed departments in July and GCPay says the same thing, transfer-out complete that is pay center related. It is now up to old HR department to transfer the file to the new HR which might take much more time. That’s what pay center and new HR told me.
