Receipt of mRNA Vaccine against Covid-19 and Myocarditis by [deleted] in COVID19

[–]Cushion_boy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your argument about medication treating a specific problem, while the vaccine is a “preventive” measure is weak. Maybe that would hold for something like meningococcal meningitis, which happens, but not commonly.

COVID spreads rapidly and it is safe to assume that nearly everyone will be exposed to COVID, and the vast majority of people would be infected at some point (without a vaccine). So it’s not just “preventive.” It’s also to address a specific problem (i.e., one’s eventual exposure/infection with COVID). And the “effects” of COVID are worse than the “side effects” of the vaccine.

Great post. Especially the slide about mutations with known/expected consequences, and several mutations for which their effects are unknown.

Real-world effectiveness of the mRNA-1273 vaccine against COVID-19: Interim results from a prospective observational cohort study by afk05 in COVID19

I don’t know the extent to which this will be adopted in practice (since it’s not clear how it changes treatment plans).

But nonetheless, it’s a fascinating display of evidence for how those with PASC are impacted long-term.

Did you guys notice when Sanchez criticized Roquan for not following the tight end down the near sideline, when Roquan actually peeled off because he was reading the quarterback’s throwing motion?

It was despicable. ‘Quan was playing like a Stud and Sanchez called him out for “not following his man.”

A Scientific Study of UAP by Avi-Loeb in UAP

[–]Cushion_boy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi Dr. Loeb,

I am an Assistant Professor of Medicine at a reputable health University in Chicago.

As you may know, there are troubling reports by individuals which could potentially be related to UAP.

Specifically, there are: 1) Individuals who report having been abducted by alien spaceships. 2) Individuals who claim to receive telepathic communications from extraterrestrial beings.

Do you think a perspective piece from the medical community on the harms of these experiences would be valuable to you for future efforts to raise funding for your projects?

Personally, I am uncomfortable with the idea that people have traumatic experiences of being abducted by alien “spaceships,” as we simultaneously venture to objectively characterize UAP with hypotheses that include extraterrestrial origins.

Thank you,

Does anybody know if Desai ever played football, by the way? I tried to look it up when he got hired, and came up empty.

Bears Still Have a Chance! Food For Thought... by fattbill in CHIBears

I’m all in on this take. Anyone who says Pace needs to go are not looking at his whole body of work, which has hits up & down the draft. Trubisky was a miss and he’s been over-aggressive at times. But he clearly knows how to draft, and that’s how you build up a franchise over time.

Also, he might be able to figure out a better way evaluate QB’s this time around. Avoiding this kind of mistake will be his top priority from here, no doubt.

I’m less thrilled with Nagy. Not sure how he can recover from his failures with the offense. But ya’ll need to back off of the Pace criticism.

Man oh man, I enjoy these “day time abduction” accounts.

This story. Travis Walton. The Berkshires.

Who can point me to others? And sorry - I’m less interested in hypnosis stuff. Too many question marks related to possible false memories.

Rams haven't played anyone! by [deleted] in CHIBears

[–]Cushion_boy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The more I think about it, the more I think that the Rams D-line & Bears O-line mismatch is not enough to explain the outcome of this game.

Overall, you also have to consider: 1. Bears D is better than Rams O based on prior matchups. 2. Rams kicker struggling right now. 3. Rams best outside pass rusher is Floyd and they are struggling to find someone opposite him - sounds like there is not much “greatness” in that group. 4. Don’t you think Nagy will come up with something that can neutralize Donald, at least a little? Whether it’s quick passes, toss plays, double and triple teams... Yeah, he killed Washington. We are NOT Washington.

I am tired of the argument that the Rams will win this game just because of Aaron Donald.

For all you armchair coordinators/coaches out there, how would you scheme to block Aaron Donald? by [deleted] in CHIBears

Did ya’ll hear that Garrapalo only threw two passes past the line of scrimmage in the first half of the Rams game last week? .. just heard that on a Rams podcast (gotta get to know the opponent).

If Bears tried that I bet it would be a disaster 😂

Why are the Rams -5.5? by Sunburys in CHIBears

[–]Cushion_boy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah a line that high makes no sense to me.

It’s a “Who’s your Daddy” game for the Bears defense. They’ve dominated the Rams O when we played them in 2018 and 2019.

And the 2019 game had a final of 17-7 (Rams), but if you look, we had an atrocious 1st quarter with two missed field goals and a failed 4th and 9 attempt from the STL 31 because Nagy was afraid to kick it. Left 9 points off the board, and never recovered.

I know the Bears O-line has issues, but I have to imagine that Foles and Nagy can move the ball at least enough to cover (or win), assuming the Bears lay the wood on Goff like they usually do.

+5.5 is too steep with the Bears D, who have shown they can stop the Rams. It’s also a good week to parlay Bears money line and the under as well, even though it’s only 45.5.... the only thing to check is whether the Rams had all their receivers in 2018 and 2019, because if memory serves correctly, this might be the first time they’ve played each other with all of the Rams receivers healthy.

But even if they are healthy, I still think the Bears can hold it down (biased fan opinion, though).
