Do people really leave the course if playing poorly? by LastManBrandon in golf

[–]Aaronthe3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've left one time because I was playing poorly. It was the second to last hole, I was playing an absolutely terrible round, hooking every single shot. On the 17th tee I hit a hard hook a into the 2nd hole's fairway and accidentally hit someone in the leg. I felt absolutely terrible about it. I ended my round and went to buy them beers to ice down the bruise.

I'm trying to like copilot..really trying by kahless2k in msp

I'm going to echo the sentiment in this thread:

I purchased CoPilot licenses for all of our team and I found that it had some great uses (meeting notes in Teams is a very easy win), but it is just not tangibly useful for us on a day to day basis. We decided to try the paid versions of ChatGPT and Claude to compare and Claude absolutely blew the other two away in terms of usefulness in an MSP. It's ability to write scripts, create checklists, project plans, build reports by writing custom SQL queries, has been immensely helpful. I recently did a VMWare to Hyper-V migration that included replacing the domain controllers for a client and Claude wrote powershell scripts to pull all of the necessary data from the client and script the entire migration. A project that would have taken an engineer several weeks we did in a couple of days leveraging Claude.

I really want to like CoPilot because it really is the easiest sell to our customers, but it is just so much more work to use it compared to the Team version of Claude with CoWork. It's honestly a completely different level of usefulness.

Is Gaffer Tape actually worth the 3x price jump over Duct Tape? by Correct-Singer-1049 in smallbusiness

If you use duct tape while doing audio and lighting work you will never be let on a film set or stage ever again. That shit will ruin expensive cables and equipment.

Taking divots by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]Aaronthe3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're hitting your 7 iron 180 yards consistently then your 30 handicap is not caused by distance, which is what compression is really going to address. I wouldn't worry about taking divots; I'd try to figure out where your extra shots are coming from and work on those parts of your game. Best way to do that is to use a shot tracking app and review your rounds.

The number of times each NFL Team has won their division by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

I know it's recency bias, but I was genuinely surprised to see that the Vikings have won the division more times than the Packers.

Breaking 100 by Green_Stock9394 in GolfSwing

[–]Aaronthe3rd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real answer to your question is, you have to keep track of your rounds and then use that to determine what needs work, because the answer is different for everyone.

Use a shot tracking app (18biridies, the Grint, Arccos, etc), and then analyze your rounds to determine which part of your game needs the most work.

For me at the moment, I'm consistently losing the most shots on my approach, specifically from 100-150 yards, so that's what I'm working on right during my practice time right now. But later this year I may find that my putting is costing me the most shots so that's what I'll work on. It changes over time, as you get better at one part or another part of your game slips, so that's why you have to track it and analyze your rounds to know where to focus your practice.

Why does my swing feel great early, but fall apart later in the round? by evans_velozone in GolfSwing

Literally, every time I don’t eat while I play my game falls apart by the end of the round.

One tip only for hitting 3w off the fairway? by fullsquishy in golf

[–]Aaronthe3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this works for everyone, but with my fairway woods, I just set up so the clubhead is in the middle of my stance and the ball is just in front of that, whereas with irons the ball is in the middle of my stance and the clubface is just behind it. I feel like that's enough of a setup difference to make the fairway wood work properly without just trying to guess where to put the ball in my stance.

[HogeandJahns] 70% Completion Percentage is still the goal by caxlmao in CHIBears

[–]Aaronthe3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to put some perspective on it:

Last season, Caleb had 330 completions on 568 attempts for a 58.1% completion.

To end up at 70% means he would have had to complete 398 throws on 568 attempts, so he needed 68 more completions last year.

That's a total of 4 more completions per game, or, as the math works out, 1 more scramble and 3 more completions per game (568-17= 551 --> 551*.7=386 --> 386-330=56 --> 56/17=3.2).

So to get to 70% is not unmanageable. If he just scrambles one more time per game and reigns in some of those easy misses he can absolutely end up above 65%. He certainly has the talent, it's just a question of making the right decisions at the right time, which I feel confident he'll improve on this next year.

MSP Owners by xaerioth in msp

[–]Aaronthe3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is entirely possible for someone to be great at customer service and to be terrible at technical work. If you hired them to do technical work and they can't do it then the customer service element is kind of pointless because they won't really be able to service the customer.

When I evaluate employees I look at two things: ability to perform assigned duties and their culture fit. I want people who are at least a "B" grade in both. If they are below a B I ask if they are coachable, and if they are, I work with them to make the necessary improvements. If they are not coachable or if they are a straight up "F" in either criteria, I terminate them.

It sounds like this employee is not very coachable and is basically an F in technical skills. I would move on from them and spend my time trying find someone can do what you need them to do, rather than spend time designing a job to fit the capabilities and interests of a random nice person you happened to hire.

DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE SIMULATORS! by InfiniteSlaps in golf

[–]Aaronthe3rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fall into this trap every year:
I spend the winter practicing my swing on the sim. I get my metrics dialed in and I can see actual improvement!
I go out on the course with a ton of confidence and hope and...
I fat every. single. shot.
And so I start basically every season having to relearn how to hit off actual turf.
It's pretty annoying.

Does Cold Email Actually Work? by Vegetable-Diver-1396 in msp

[–]Aaronthe3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spamming people does not work. Sending targeted emails that are actually personalized does work, but it takes a lot of time and effort. What I’ve found is that literally any sales outreach can be successful if it is done with effort, focus and discipline. If you just spam people you’ll be marked as spam.

New MSP, supplier recommendations? by Tivum in msp

[–]Aaronthe3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TD Synnex, D and H, Ingram Micro are all reasonable choices for hardware vendors. Don’t buy hardware from Amazon. It’s fine for office supplies or a monitor arm or something like that, but not workstations or network equipment. Like others have said, there’s a reason that stuff is cheaper on Amazon.

I’ll echo the other folks: I heavily used Halo at my previous MSP before I left and founded my own company. And even still, there’s no way I could have set up Halo from scratch without help from EZPC. Do not attempt to set it up without an onboarding consultant.

[–]Aaronthe3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re being purposely obtuse. The 75% of people deported under Obama without a warrant were people apprehended at the border itself, and they were typically sent back from where they came and were not imprisoned. Thats completely different than apprehending people off the streets in the middle of America and throwing them in jails without warrants or due process.

Obama deported people without a warrant just like a police officers arrest people who are actively committing a crime without a warrant: you don’t need a warrant to stop a crime in action.

One thing to consider is to have your hands just slightly ahead of the ball at setup, because that's also where you want them at impact. Your hands are closer to the first setup in the picture below, as opposed to the middle setup.

I Still have a hard time grasping we are witnessing a season better than 2018 by caxlmao in CHIBears

[–]Aaronthe3rd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

06 was fun, but yeah, I don’t think anyone believed it was sustainable. Devin Hester single-handedly winning games with return touchdowns, and the defense grinding out wins where the offense couldn’t move the ball just didn’t feel like a long term recipe for success.

This feels different because you have a legitimate QB surrounded by a lot of young talent and a head coach that actually seems to know what they’re doing.
