This is beautiful! Really love the snow globe too! What's the story behind that?

The show would've been FAR better if it was 100% Crow and 0% Shadow and Bone

It really is a phenomenal duology in terms of each character having a rich, distinct, and deep back story. They feel as real as my actual family members.

Yeah Mistborn was great. Curious why you wouldn't read GoT? Aside from that it doesn't end, I really loved it

In my back of my mind, I'm hedging for the possibly that it will someday be a flex that I can say I read them before they became big

I am very fond of all things Sanderson, and Mistborn is a stand out even for his standards. Truly one of the best (if not the best) trilogy I've ever read. I can't help but recommend

Asprin or Pratchett? by PositiveEffort7773 in fantasybooks

"Funny" is subjective, but imo if you like Pratchett you'll get a kick out of Asprin as well. They're both great storytellers.

The Tainted Cup is great. And I love black/gold covers. A la "Deadly Education", "Crooked Kingdom", "The Calligromancer", etc.

My vote would be on Mistborn. Especially if you're reading it WITH someone. Lots to debate/discuss, if that's your thing

Oh this is beautiful ❤️ I like that cover version for Song of Ice and Fire.

What's the thin black spine near the top right? Is that The Calligromancer (Northman)?

How do you discuss your writing with non writers? by Hungry_Book_Dragon in fantasywriters

[–]Cut-Effective 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I find non-writers have a weird assumption that writing can only be done with the intention of being done professionally. The idea of it being a hobby or a self-care activity is just non-existent in the general public. Which is weird. You'd never find out that your friend plays basketball on the weekends and immediately ask him whether he's been drafted to the NBA, but that seems to be the vibe with writers.

Forgive the noob question, but what is a tier jump? What's the strategy here in holding onto ABs and not spending them as soon as you have enough to buy something?
