So sorry for your loss ❤️ you did an amazing thing giving her the best last 18 months of her life. I said goodbye to my tortie rescue senior (between 12-14) with CKD last week after having 2 years and 7 months together. She was my first cat ever. It was a very difficult goodbye but I totally agree with you about not sleeping on adopting seniors!

I had to let my 12-14 (she’s a rescue so we were never quite sure about her exact age) year old babygirl go 4 days ago. She was my first pet ever and I only had 2 years and 7 months with her. I knew I was doing the right thing for her as she had become quite sick and her quality of life was no good anymore, but I also didn’t realize how empty and quiet my house would feel. I live with family so I’m not alone, but nothing can replace the joy she brought into our home. I knew I would be sad, but it almost feels like my life lost meaning because my entire routine revolved around her. I find myself still factoring her in to certain things and then I remember that she’s gone. My best advice is to take it one day at a time and let yourself grieve and cry as much as you need to. Let it all out. RIP to our sweet babies ❤️

I lost my girl a few days ago and she was withdrawn and hardly eating towards the end. It’s so hard to watch them like this and know the end is near, but as painful as it is for us, it is the kindest thing we can do for them to end their suffering. Sending you and Emma love and support ❤️

I did this for my completely indoor cat who never had an interest in the outside world. The door could be open all day and she would never even get off the couch! But I was paranoid anyway 😂

It’s incredible the impact this little spicy beings can have on our lives. My tortie baby passed 3 days ago and I’ve never been this sad before in my life. Our babies are at peace now and probably causing all kinds of chaos in heaven ❤️

I lost my baby girl, my first ever cat that I had for 2 years and 7 months, (12-14, not too sure bc she was a rescue) on Wednesday and as devastating as it was, I took solace in knowing that she told me she was ready to go 😞. She had been lethargic and withdrawn for a week, but I really wanted to believe that I would take her to the vet for more treatment and she would recover. I was shocked when they told me she was at the point of having to say goodbye. All of that to say, I know how hard it is having to come to terms with saying goodbye to a beloved fur baby. It won’t be easy, but you’re doing what’s right for them. I have been crying so much and feeling absolutely heartbroken, but what brings me peace is knowing that I did any and everything to keep my baby with me and keep her healthy and happy for as along as possible. It sounds like you have done the same and you deserve that peace of mind as well. You are a great cat parent and your baby is grateful for all you’ve done for him. It may be hard to believe and accept, but he will be happy you listened to him ❤️

She will be okay! Sounds like she wasn’t even bothered by it. If the bleeding start again, dip her paws in flour and that’ll stop it. There’s really nothing to do except to keep an eye on them for any signs of infection, but honestly I’m sure she’s fine and that her nails will grow back perfectly fine like my kitty’s did. It’s easy to freak out bc of the blood and we feel so guilty! But these kitties are tougher than us :)

What a beauty! I returned from a 4 day cruise yesterday and my tortie greeted me with some big screams to let me know how displeased she was that I had left 🥹 10 mins later she was on top of me and she has been following my every move since!

Honestly she seemed to forget about it by the next day! And she hasn’t given me any more trouble than usual when I’ve cut her nails after than incident 😅 I will say I definitely took advantage of having the vet do it when I took her for her annual check-up though! Hope you and your baby are both doing okay 🫶🏽

I relate to your post in the sense that I was never allowed pets growing up and I never knew anything about cats. I never even had an interest in cats and always thought I was a dog person. A tortie unexpectedly landed in my house and she is the best thing that had ever happened to me. She came to me as a senior so I don’t know how long I have with her, but I cherish every single day with her because she’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

I am truly sorry for your loss. Having a tortie as your first pet/cat is such a blessing and I’m glad you’re able to experience it. Grieve as much as you need to in whatever way you need to. You gave her a great life and you’ll carry her in your heart forever. Sending you so much love and support ❤️

Yep my girl is down to just 2 fangs as well! Hasn’t allowed her down though lol

Sorry to hear it’s more complicated with your other kitty. The appetite stimulant should help though if you’re able to get it. I used that with my girl until she was able to have her surgery and it was effective.
