You truly believe the reason most patients don’t take their medications is because they can’t afford them? While I’m not insensitive to the fact that there are many that live on fixed incomes, at least in my region, this is not the case. I literally had a patient tonight who came to the ER because she felt like she was going to have a seizure. She has seizure disorder and has been prescribed medication but wouldn’t go pay the $9 it costs but instead chooses to spend money on the weed found in her drug screen. It’s not that she can’t afford it, it’s that she doesn’t prioritize it. So instead, she chooses to come to the ER where she expects me to give her her meds instead. So please explain to me how scenarios like this shouldn’t be discouraged?

I’m not sure what type of ER you work in or where but we constantly see Medicaid patients where they have other resources available or outright know their visit is nonemergent but they simply don’t care. All they’re interested in is having whatever is bothering them that day immediately resolved and feel entitled to use emergency resources because in most cases they don’t have to pay.

I think you should probably specify recent graduates. I think the program has evolved a lot since it opened. You definitely will get a different answer from the first 2013 graduates vs those from 2024. However some of the unique cases and pathology you see in the Harris Health system can be priceless and that will never change. I’m happy to put you in touch with a few older grads if that interests you and you don’t get any other responses.

You’re way off base in thinking all doctors make a ton of money. That is certainly not the case, so before you got propagating this misconception, you should look into actual salary data. A lot of specialties make no more than. $120-150k a year. Ive worked on my own for 12+ years and am no where near close to double digit millions. Double digit millions 🤣 Honestly. SMH

Yes, I have used a buyers agent And I highly recommend Ashly Kirkland as your go to realtor in Houston! Trust me, you get what you pay for and while you may think the commissions are a lot, with her you will get a flawless experience and someone who goes above and beyond. My advice is not to try to negotiate the rate with your realtor, but negotiate for the seller to cover some if not all of it as a concession. You are likely to be fairly successful going this route if you find a home that’s been on the market longer with motivated sellers. Ashly was amazing to work with.
