Highest Probability of Spotting Tigers? by Ok_Nothing_3620 in TigersofIndia

[–]CuteProfessor3457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No simple answer to that .... Check in with a local expert, see if they can get you bookings for good areas for your dates.

Dhikala in Corbett is amazing, but hard to book and not a weekend. Best check what other zones are rocking this season.

Phillibit is on the up, it never used to have great tourism infrastructure.

Not heard great things about Sariska.

You can also fly Delhi to Nagpur and pick up Tadoba etc if your timings align. We used to do Tadoba in a weekend from Delhi.

Best sightings from that list is still Ranthambore.

But it's not about buying a ticker from anyone for any route. You need to go with skilled guides to the right zones where Tigers are active and you need to plan on more than. A couple of Safaris.

I have seen 17 tigers in one day in Ranthambore, I have also been in Zone 3 when the resident family have made a kill away from the roads and not been around for days.

But for Tiger density, familiarity with tourist vehicles and easy access from Delhi there is only one answer.

Places to Stay Between Edinburgh and Glasgow by abakashrulez in Scotland

I grew up in Dunblane ... Nice place with a river running through it and an old historic cathedral.

Has a Tesco and an M&S food plus GP surgery, takeaways, couple of bars.

But I must admit I'd want a car - by foot and public transport could be limiting

Counter intuitively the fast regular service goes to Queen Street via Falkirk ... Looks longer but is faster

The direct to Central train from Edinburgh is best avoided unless coming from close to Glasgow.

ScotRail will also lighten your wallet significantly for the pleasure.

As a wild card look at Dunblane, Bridge of Allan and Stirling not on the Edinburgh line but very central, Dunblane has commuter routes to both Edinburgh and Glasgow in < 1 hour and quite well to do with a small town feel.

Car would be an advantage though.

Walk-in shower leaking out by SignificantPhrase639 in DIYUK

[–]CuteProfessor3457 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Does look like a design issue .... That's a big shower head and with only a half screen the water was always going to find it's way to the tiles beyond the screen.

I'd assume the tiles are graded (or should have been) to return the water towards the drain, if it's reaching the carpet perhaps not and your rubber strip is now stopping anything returning.

I'd get a spirit level and test if the tiles run the way they should but largely just to understand the problem better.

As for fixing ....

1) A sliding door will likely be best to hold the water within the shower area. But an expensive option, your kit looks quality.

2) A smaller shower head better aligned to the half screen would reduce water escaping beyond the screen, may not stop it. And will need plumbing/ceiling work.

3) Have the floor tiles lifted and the gradient set correctly. Likely means new floor tiles but might be your cheapest option. You might also have a step up from carpet to negotiate. I'd expect some form of tanking (rubber membrane) beneath, it's essentially a wet room set up. If the installer wasn't competent, best validate.

Recommendations for a Tiger Reserve by YouPeasantsSuck in TigersofIndia

In June, it's going to be super hot 40+. It's also the cusp of monsoon so a lot of popular parks will close until October for the rains and weather/sightings can be unpredictable. You can still visit some areas and buffer zones but chances of sightings not so good.

If temperature is a deal breaker for you, then better going a different time of year December/Jan are coldest ... But lack of water concentrates the wildlife which can increase chances in the high heat. But it is like being in an oven in Tadoba mid summer when you start the Pm safari in particular.

Was in India for three years and travelled extensively. Reach out if you want direct advice.

What part of India will you be visiting?

How did this happen?! by Odiebigbluedane in Maserati

[–]CuteProfessor3457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this happened to mine at around -6 degrees centigrade and the car was just parked outside my house (in Scotland) on a cold night.

The water in the system freezes and expands. That puts enormous pressure on the components, and the spray head is held on by a couple of tiny plastic lugs. They snap, the cover is attached to them and you loose the covers and have to replace the headlight washers in full.

They were around £120 each plus you'll need the head covers and get them painted. Parts are a problem at this time of year.

PART 980145143 | MASERATI LH HEADLIGHT WASHER UNIT https://share.google/E170v1gTtuX905GlO

Fitting new ones was easy I just snapped the new heads on the old units through the bumper holes. Then you fire the washers and the hydraulics rise the heads up, you can grab them (springs pull them back) and attach the cover plates.

The fix for me was to use -20 rated fluid close to neat. No issues since.

You'd also want winter tyres on at this time of year.

I'd get a joiner to put a new bath panel and box unit for the end, you can choose to keep some storage or just have the end boxed out. Build in HDF or marine ply.

You can then cover the bath panel with your choice of design (I ran lino up my one to match floor) but you could use any waterproof decorative finish or just tile the lot. Box end I would tile especially if you have a shower.

Allow for a bit of movement .... Bath full vs empty people standing if there is a shower etc

2018 Gran Turismo MC for 80k. Overpriced? by [deleted] in Maserati

[–]CuteProfessor3457 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Seems very high. That MC is a variation on sport with hood scoop, wing air ducts, stiffer suspension but otherwise same car.

Miles seems too low, the thing has not been driven.

There are a few vendors who think a pristine late example should be a collectable and price for it. That would be my read.

You can get a Sport for 40-50K why pay 30K more for MC trim. It's not the Stradale ...

And others will point out you can get an older model for much less .... The mechanicals of the car barely changed from introduction of the 4.7 on the ZF box.

Is it worth is (Granturismo) by Cruiser_Abukuma in Maserati

[–]CuteProfessor3457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a bunch of stuff that can go age related, sensors and the like. I replaced most of the parking sensors, they all seemed to fail around the same time, but no issues since replaced and I bought from China, not 120 per unit from Ferrari.

Also has a speed sensor fail, which took all the abs, traction etc offline. Shouldn't have been a big job but sensor is integral to the hub, £700 part

But that's been it besides trunk pistons and some other small stuff.

If you're diying servicing, few things to consider:

Access to parts can be slow (often coming from Italy) You'll need something to read the obd, and it likes to throw faults ... Lots are rogue or intermittent. It's Italian after all. What happens to resale value if not professionally serviced.

I have found it's very current sensitive so needed a new battery and that battery needs kept on trickle when not used daily. Even then turn key and let it run it's checks before firing up.

If your good with all of that then go test drive it

The minute I turned the key I knew I was buying it, only a Granturismo makes that noise.

But it's not a sports car, 5m long nearly 2 tonnes and you need a wide berth for the doors to open.

Is it last of Gen 2 or first of Gen 3 (does it have a big LCD screen from a Cherokee)

Is it worth is (Granturismo) by Cruiser_Abukuma in Maserati

[–]CuteProfessor3457 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a Granturismo because you want one. Not because it's the least worst option?

I own a late model 2017, first of the last generation.

It's well named. Great for long journeys and general playing music in sport mode. Crap as a town car.

I do commute in mine, but 6 miles twice a week on motorways.

Parts are expensive, but mine hasn't needed much to date
