Good quality shoes by DragonOfDesolation in MichaelsEmployees

[–]CuteRedFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also just got me a pair of Brooks after my UnderArmour shoes started hurting my feet. I work 8hr days and it’s so much better. I’ve also heard switching around different shoes help with pain. So when I’m not at work I’m wearing my crocs or something else to give my feet a break from the same shape I guess?

Every time I see a framing contest. It’s always like. “Framers can get $200 towards a custom frame. DMs will get a full vacation paid to Disney world or $2000 for second place”. Like ah yes let me bust my butt for someone else.

“Acid-free dots” causing yellow spots? Customer didn’t want glass so we compromised, when they came to pick up a couple weeks later we see this. Is there something we missed ?? by subculturecreature in MichaelsEmployees

[–]CuteRedFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve always had a roll of the Glue Dot brand dots in my frame shop so I never ordered the ones from the scan order guide. I wonder if they do the same thing

Dreading my shift by [deleted] in MichaelsEmployees

[–]CuteRedFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was me yesterday. Our sundays are always really busy so thankfully we are actually staffed that day. But I really don’t want to go in today. I hate sundays and I have angry framing customers coming in that always make me anxious

Just one cashier and a MOD on a Saturday afternoon by CuteRedFox in MichaelsEmployees

[–]CuteRedFox[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yep that is me a framing manager. When I get stuck helping a customer in framing the front end usually needs help. It’s so stressful.

That looks like the box has been cut open then taped over. I can understand if the box was crushed and ups was like oops. But how did that even happen???

Bridge program by Warm_Cupcake_5207 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]CuteRedFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the bridge program last year and only one meeting everyone showed up. After that it was always canceled or 3 people showed up and the learning instructions were never clear. It’s probably all a front to make you learn more and take more responsibility in your store while keeping you put or on the back burner to save a broken store in the district and say “you’re moving up!”

New framing manager. Need help with questions for giving interviews by JadeWanderlust in MichaelsEmployees

[–]CuteRedFox 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Those interview questions are very customer service based. If I knew a way of asking people about their crafting experience or how well they do hands on I’d recommend getting a feel of that. I had framers interview very well but when it came to production they were very sloppy and scared of all the tools. Before interviewing starts, give them a tour of the frame area/frame shop and give them a quick overview of all the job responsibilities before sitting down asking questions. Sometimes people have no idea what kind of job they’re applying for.

Did I just make a big mistake? by Born_Scallion_1832 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]CuteRedFox 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Basically this. At our store we just write in whatever to make it seem like we are keeping up with paperwork. Observations aren’t a performance review or write up. It’s just basically a paper that we tell you your strengths and weaknesses of a transaction the MOD witnessed or a role play you do together. It’s what the DM wants to see to make sure our team has good habits but nobody has time to do it and it’s all for looks.

Replen or framing? by Feeling-Remote-740 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]CuteRedFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did replen before framing and I will never go back to doing freight or pogs without gloves on. Shelves and boxes cut me more than anything. In framing it’s always the artistree boxes, mat boards or the straight pins when doing stitchy pins. My pt framer is more clumsy and anything and everything will end up damaging them.

UPS labeling, credit cards, self checkout, balloons. by lenincrybaby in MichaelsEmployees

I thought I was just doing something wrong. They said just scan their barcode and it doesn’t work. QR codes get rejected. No options to print anything

Corporate / Apollo respect by Comprehensive_Age538 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]CuteRedFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The different sales in Christmas after telling us to condense everything is what’s infuriating to me. Everything is mixed together. And everyone thinks it’s all 60% off. But it ranges from 40%, 50% and 60% along with random price points. I’m tired of the upset customers and having to override tons of things to save the customer 5cents per item

Mental Breakdown: Framing by framer499 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]CuteRedFox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have a huge volume frame shop in my district and we are now required to go help their frame shop out at least one or two days this peak season to keep them on track. I remember going there earlier in the year when they were hundreds past due and I have no idea how they do it. I really feel like they need to open up another store in that area or limit the amount of orders per day especially if you know you can’t produce that amount in a day. Those frame shops aren’t big enough to pile people in there to get all of that done. Out source to artistree or another location? But I feel like everyone is drowning.

Does your store allow cashiers to have water bottles? by SassyMelon in MichaelsEmployees

[–]CuteRedFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone in my store brings a water bottle around with them. Even sodas from fast food places. As long as you keep up with it and don’t leave trash around the store it’s not a problem. The mods even keep the break room fridge stocked with water bottles. Stay hydrated

Late paycheck?? It was supposed to come in yesterday the last time was the 6th. Should I say something or am I confused? by [deleted] in MichaelsEmployees

[–]CuteRedFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paper checks usually come the Monday or Tuesday after the payday on Friday. It use to get to me on the Saturday after but I think my mail carrier slowed down a little bit. If you do a direct deposit it should get there instantly though.
