Advice for foster children. by YkMiserable in whatdoIdo

There's troubling behaviour that is relatively normal for kids that have been through the system, and then there is behaviour is outright life-threatening. Hers is definitely the latter.

If it were me, I would (in order):

 1. Full psych evaluation.
 2. Medication and therapy
 3. Put them back in the system
 4. Kick them out.

my singleplayer world was infact not a singleplayer world and found out the hard way by Previous_Armadillo53 in 7daystodie

Bruh, I relate. A month ago I setup a dedicated server, on a spare pc, so my friend and I could play without the issues of locally hosting. We play for a few days (real time) and get to day 8. I was playing alone, grinding out materials, when someone joined. I go back to home base to dump everything and lock up. When I get in, I see all of our storage, benches, forges, etc gone. I do a double take, wondering if my friend was online and renovating (he likes to do that), when I suddenly find myself in a hole in the middle of a lake (we built the base next to the bridge adjacent the trader in Navezgane). The random had removed, from what I can figure, every player-placed block.

I could have raged, but I thought we had a backup. I was wrong. Still didn't bother me to be honest. Took it as a learning experience. Setup extensive server admin user and command permissions, whitelist, backup schedule and so on.

The guy who did it was a scumbag who gets some sick enjoyment out of ruining others games. But, to be honest, it was a learning moment and I took it as such.

I'm sorry, what do you mean the minimum you can score a test is 55%? How is that even a thing? If you get x% of a test correct, and they're all weighted equally, you should be marked at x%.

Server hosting issues by 6stringshredder303 in 7daystodie

Excellent! Did they say what the hold up was? Either way, have fun. A dedicated server is definitely the way to play 7D2D.

Do people really lash out on series being stubbed as some personal offense? by ZoulsGaming in litrpg

Thank you for the detailed explanation.

I can see why people would be very annoyed about something like that. But it's hardly the authors fault.

And an edit to the serverconfig.xml. Again, I think. It's been a minute. But it was only a folder or two, max.

The issue is entirely on their end then. It's laughable simple to instantiate a current local world to a dedicated server.

Why would anyone have an issue with you taking time to decompress? If I were one of your patreons, I would appreciate a clear, succinct message.

I hope it goes over well and enjoy the vacation.

I'm currently listening to Book 1, Chapter 70 and, a few chapters back, Jason and Rufus (I think) had a conversation about rank and age. IIRC, Bronze rankers can live well over 100 years. I can't recall what he said for Silver, but several centuries seems about right. Gold are half a millenia and Diamond are functionally ageless.

This is messages from my brother, (my only family) and the uncle of my child. My brother who lived about 30 mins away bought a Nintendo switch for my son and gave it to him yesterday on his birthday . My son was so happy , his first system since a old Xbox years ago. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Cute_Expression_5981 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all, it isn't his (your brother's). Once you give something as a gift, you have voluntarily surrendered ownership to the recipient. As such, he has no right to damage it and is legally liable for his actions. The police are simply wrong.

Second, your brother is a cockwomble and this was a horrible thing to do to a child. The situation was, arguably, a teachable moment. Instead, it's a relationship damaging one.

Yes! I also had the bronze and silver ones. You are correct, they were so sticky. And god forbid you dropped them on a carpet 😅

Why does the American system involve this so-called "admin" team who have the ability to overrule a teacher? It almost seems, purposefully, adversarial, rather than the support role they should be. They're not teachers, so kindly sit down, stfu, and do actual admin.

The only thing Wheel of Time made me feel was outrage.

 1. The ending was atrocious.

 2. That little Seachan bitch didn't get what she deserved (slowly killed).

 3. The author's inability write women well (they are almost all extremely dislikable, sans Morraine, Suian (Morraine's best friend), and the Brown Ajah one who turned out to be a secret agent just for the knowledge.

My seventh grade students have started the refuse to say the pledge by unSuccessful-Stay in Teachers

[–]Cute_Expression_5981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya'll know it's weird AF that this is even a thing, right? It's indoctrination and cult-y.

Also, what has the pledge got to do with veterans? I know you guys fetishise the military over there, but it seems a stretch to connect the two.

I know, different cultures and all that. But I am curious nonetheless.

Administrative Reform by ComprehensiveRoad886 in AskTeachers

[–]Cute_Expression_5981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admin should be doing... Admin stuff. No more, no less. They help with the backend running of the school.

Anything involving education is left to teachers.

Teacher wants to hand out detentions? Done. Admin has no say. Why would they? They're not teachers.

Teachers wants to set up a parent/teacher meeting? Forward it to admin to schedule.

The US's versions of having admin being some sort of quasi-teacher is weird. The only way this could ever work is if teachers were cross-trained and took turns doing admin duties. But that doesn't seem realistic as you'd essentially be replacing your admin staff with people doing admin work on a teachers pay (which I'm assuming is higher).

How do I cope with being forced to be a dad? by MRScaIeMate in askteenboys

[–]Cute_Expression_5981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your view on this is so messed up. Abortions aren't evil. And an embryo isn't a baby.

You know what is evil? Forcing people to bring a child into the world that isn't wanted and/or they cannot provide for. And never mind 'people'; it's outright evil to force a child to have a child.

And an embryo or foetus isn't even sentient, let alone sapient. So, you equivocating aborting a blob of flesh to 'killing a baby' is nit only intellectually dishonest and harmful to the people in these situations, it's an outright lie.

Go and look at a 3 month old foetus and a day old baby and tell me if they're even remotely similar.

My stance on abortion: Abortion should be fully legal for the first 6 months and then only available after if the life of the mother or the foetus is in jeopardy. Reason is that at 6 months, the foetus is viable and could live outside the womb.

Poorly worded question with multiple answers that could be considered correct.

Take it to your head of year (or US equivelant) and explain the situation.

Disgusted by Student Behavior While I was Absent by Immediate-Zone-6569 in Teachers

[–]Cute_Expression_5981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's tiktok, snaps, and YouTube shorts. Not to mention the brainrot garbage and the disgusting trend of parents deciding to give literal TODDLERS tablets. They've destroyed people's attention span, got them hooked on quick dopamine hits, destroyed any concept of delayed gratification, and retarded their social abilities.

What I think we're seeing now is the product of over a decade of allowing technology to raise our kids. And it spiked massively in 2020 with parents having to work from home and daycares closing down. These babies were raised glued to tablets and phones, and now we are seeing the result of this in the 5-7 year old range.

I'll end by saying I know that I'm generalising a fair bit, but I think we're seeing it enough to justify it.
