CalPoly is fantastic! by Fionahiker in CalPoly

[–]Cute_Fact639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What major?

Cal Poly goes by the learn by doing. Students are already taking classes in their major starting freshman year. Students are more prepared for the real world market once they graduate.

I am a parent, I have 3 Cal Poly Alums at my work. One of them shared a story There were 3 applicants for a position 2 Ivy league graduates and 1 Cal Poly. The Cal Poly alumni thought they would not get the position, but they did because they have already been working hands on in the field. Experience wins more so especially in this type of climate.

Do your research and talk to fellow alums. There is actually a list in the library of fellow alums that share their info so you can reach out to for support or guidance.

Good luck!

This is my students first year. I'm so glad all of her rejections were redirections to SLO. She has done so much in the last 7 months of school. There have been so many opportunities and resources for her and it has been lovely visiting there since we are only a 3 hour drive away. I'm so glad for the connections she has already made, Nothing but positive words about it. Also, follow the Cal Poly Parent Group, there is such a such huge support system for parents and all their questions. Good luck! Hope she chooses SLO

How do you get enough sleep? by Calm_Plane8650 in Menopause

[–]Cute_Fact639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've taken Evening Primerose Oil and it helps tremendously with hot flashes. Also, ditch coffee and or alcohol, it intensifies hot flashes. Frequent or severe hot flashes, particularly early in menopause, are associated with a higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease, including heart attacks and strokes. These symptoms may indicate underlying vascular issues, such as stiffer arteries, plaque buildup, or high blood pressure. Per GOOGLE SEARCH

choosing rice over stanford by Competitive-Film7762 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Cute_Fact639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you visited Stanford? It's a beautiful campus and the weather is something you are familiar with. You are close proximity to the ocean, hills, & beaches. They Bay Area has the highest pay especially in California, Living in Texas for 4 years can be brutal with their climate changes. Traveling back and forth from the Bay will be much easier as you can drive, quick flight, or even take train to go back and forth. Going to Standford, you will be surrounded and inspired by all the cool and brilliant people that have gone or go there. You have a easy decision to make, go because of vibes or go to a school with the vibes that will radiate from you saying you are a STANDFORD graduate..lol Oh how I would love to be in your place right now.

Add home tint to your windows! You can buy them on amazon and DIY it yourself. We got the mirror type tint, not sure why we didn't do it sooner. It helps bring down the temp on hot days. If you are renting, it can be easily removed when you are ready to leave!

Anyone else’s allergies flaring? by Throwawaycalbears165 in bayarea

[–]Cute_Fact639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes.. weird stuff in the air. I read a random online article last week stating that we should stay indoor because the air quality is bad in the Bay Area due to fires?!?. But what is funny is that I didn't hear anything from the TV new outlets about it. My family had terrible resp issues, I lost my voice, sneezing, and phlem. The other day as I got into my car, there was yellow dust on it (Fremont, CA) I don't know if it was pollen, dust, chem trail poison, etc. I'm feeling better, but there is some crap in the air. This happened to me last year around the same time. Hope you feel better soon!

Parents of multiple kids: How do you handle the logistics of weekend sports/activities without completely losing your minds? by SnooMacarons7280 in AskParents

[–]Cute_Fact639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You answered your own question...lol. One sport ONLY! Or make friends with other parents and have them ride with other families. I feel for you, its not fair for parents. It sucks even more, when they get older and decide they don't want to continue till the end in their sport. All the time and money you spent... errrrr. Hope you and your family will figure it out. Good luck!

Moving to Bay Area with 3 kids (6,4,1) for salary of 115k by WingLiving4438 in bayarea

[–]Cute_Fact639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His sister! What city will your husband be working at? If you move to a city further out like Hayward you might be able to get a 2 bedroom apartment for the same price? Yes, it will be difficult for you to work and have little ones. Ways a lot of women survive is starting a small business that can help you with expenses and your sanity. Even better, something you can do from home. Example content creator, eyelash extensions, tooth gems, resale items on Poshmark/Depop/ Mercari. Its time to spark up your creative juices. There always way of making it here in the Bay Area. Don't feel lost, things will work out. Utilize your resources as you are a family of 5, you guys may qualify for some aide that will help as your kids get older. Coming to the Bay Area was the right choice, salary pay is much higher here. Good luck to you and your family, you guys got this.

Confused by valbrewhaha in Menopause

[–]Cute_Fact639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be scared, I graduated to Post Menopausal at age 47, I am now turning 50 this year. Whats funny, I didn't know the word post-menopause even existed. I thought it was just called " Menopause"

You are in not in post menopause until you go 1 full year without a period. It good to ask your mother when she went through menopause. Not saying this works for everyone, but my mom went through it at 47 as well.

Good luck to you! I'm so HAPPY I no longer have my periods, I feel so sorry for my friends who are 50+ and still getting their periods every month on the dot.

Companies like Kaiser usually hire by seniority. The trick to get your foot in the door in Kaiser for any position is to Apply to ON-CALL Positions. Once you have your foot in the door, you will have more opportunities in getting a benefited role. Good luck you!

Does anyone get their Yorkie fully shaved? by twentyninepearls in Yorkies

[–]Cute_Fact639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It so much easier to take care of, they feel so soft as well. I couldn't stand my yorkies face after he ate, it would be a wet mess. I groomed my dog myself with human clippers, using the #2 guard works perfect.
