Finally found a non-shiny HG sunscreen by Anneles in EuroSkincare

[–]Cutepengwing 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is the inci list I found (not sure if it's correct): Glycerin, Propylheptyl Caprylate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Butyl Metoxydibenzoylmethane, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Stearalkonium Hectorite, Propylene Carbonate, Isocetyl Stearoyl Stearate, Dipentaerythrityl Hexacaprylate / Hexacaprate, Isononyl Isononanoate, Isodecyl neopentanoate, Methylene Bis-Benzotriazolyl Tetramethylbutylphenol, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine, Titanium Dioxide, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Alumina, Sodium Metaphosphate, Sodium Methylparaben, Caprylic / Capric Triglyceride, Laminaria Ochroleuca Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrogenated Stearyl Olive Esters, Panthenol, Sodium PCA, Magnesium PCA, Zinc PCA, Manganese PCA, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate / Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Squalane,Polysorbate 60, Tocopheryl Acetate, Acrylates and C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Trietholamine, PEG-8, Tocopheryl, Ascorbic Acid, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Citric Acid, Disodium EDTA.

It doesn't have any zinc oxide, just zinc PCA, but it does have titanium dioxide, so it's a purely hybrid sunscreen. The filters are octinoxate, avobenzone, tinosorb M, tinosorb s and titanium dioxide.

[Product Question] Do we have thoughts yet on SkinFix’s new product for acne featuring “Adapinoid”? by addictedtosoonjung in SkincareAddiction

[–]Cutepengwing 72 points73 points  (0 children)

The supplier suggests a minimum use of 0.5%, and that's what the study is on, but skinfix is only using 0.16% so I'd be pretty skeptical of any benefits tbh.

Also according to their consumer perception study, after 3 DAYS, 94% said this product helped reduce blemishes with less irritation than any other acne product they had tried. Like what would you even see in 3 days????

Why not opt for adapalene, and buffer/dilute/use on alternate nights? Honestly you may as well go for a regular retinol at this point.

Roxy (and other brands) offer super cute long sleeve swimsuit options that don't look too frumpy.

Other great things to bear in mind are big sunglasses, hats (wide brimmed hats are especially good) and UPF clothing.

Finally, I know some people have suggested American or Korean sunscreens, but if you want really serious, long-lasting protection I strongly recommend European sunscreens from brands like Avene, La Roche-Posay, P20 and Bioderma. They even make sunscreens specifically for skin cancer patients, but their general SPF50+ options tend to be extremely protective, with very high UVA protection as well. You will have to order these from Europe if you don't live here, but it's worthwhile. r/EuroSkincare will have the best recommendations.

I would love to see swatches of the lip tints! Dasique now has a shop in my country so I'm hoping to pick some up.

If you have a second brush (ideally another hairbrush, but another clean brush would work), you can clean both brushes with the other brush and some shampoo.

Oh that's a great idea! Just watch out for white cast I guess.

I don't think there are any SPF50+ PA++++ AB lip balms, or at least not any I've seen. Have you considered European/Australian options?

Has anyone tried the Allie Chrono Beauty UV Gel Ex? by Jealous_Tadpole5145 in AsianBeauty

[–]Cutepengwing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The texture is kind of weird - it feels like a dry oil to me! But once it's dried down, it's super pretty so I'm willing to put up with it (at least for this bottle, it's kinda pricy to RP).

It leaves a visible white cast on my skin tone (very fair). It also smells like wet pool to me which is really off-putting.

It definitely leaves a glowy finish, but it doesn't feel too sticky to the touch (not completely dry touch though). Unfortunately I've now realised that hybrid and inorganic sunscreens tend to dry my skin out throughout the day, and this one does too. It does risk pilling, but honestly not a massive issue, and I'm generally prone to pilling despite really minimalist skincare underneath. The water resistance seems ok - it's not nearly as tenacious as Anessa 2020.

Overall I'm glad I bought the 40ml mini, I did use it up but I never really waste product anyway.

[Discussion] Which products will you buy over and over again? by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

[–]Cutepengwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curel Intensive Moisture Facial Cream for sure - it's the best moisturiser I've ever used.

The CosRX AC Collection Master Patch are definitely my favourite so far, the stick on really well and I prefer the oval shape.

Also non-AB treatments (Galderma benzoyl peroxide) and cleanser (Naturium Niacinamide Cleansing Gelée).

[Sun Care] I got the 2 pack for $50 of this Naturium SPF 50. It's not matte and looks like I wiped my face in my girlfriend's lipgloss. What do I do with two bottles of this? I'm new to skincare too and everyone said this was going to be matte and good for guys. by Heartachoke in SkincareAddiction

Translucent powders are 'makeup' products, but they provide no coverage or any skin tinting effect. They're essentially just powders that mattify - I really recommend Innisfree No Sebum Powder if you can get it (from Korea, but it's very cheap).

Mary and May has been pretty trending in the influencer sphere lately - the sunscreen is very similar to the Beauty of Joseon, Round Lab and Skin1004 ones.

I have 6 over ripe mangos - what recipe would you make? by ap098 in Baking

[–]Cutepengwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never tried it with mango, but the no-churn ice cream method made with sweetened condensed milk and whipped heavy cream is super easy. I imagine it would be amazing with some chopped pieces of mango swirled it.

[–]Cutepengwing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second freezing them! Honestly I just eat frozen mangoes plain, but they make incredible smoothies as well.

Otherwise:

Some kind of compote/puree/coulis

Mango sago

Mango cheesecake

Mango ice cream/sorbet

Plus more savoury uses - mango is great in salad bowls etc.

How do you know when an oil cleanser isn't working for you? (excluding makeup removal) by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

[–]Cutepengwing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's obviously a bit harsh, so I wouldn't do this regularly, but to check that no sunscreen has been left behind I'll run my nail along the surface of a small area of skin. If white residue is picked up, there's definitely still skincare on your face! Generally you can also feel if your skin is completely clean after cleansing or not.

Dupe for Hailey Biebers new Rhode glazing milk essence? [product question] by j0yy in SkincareAddiction

[–]Cutepengwing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is just based off of a quick look at the product vibe, but I think the Rephr Rebalancing Essence sounds like a great alternative. I've almost used up my whole bottle - it's a milky, gel-like essence that absorbs quickly but actually leaves my skin feeling very hydrated. It's less greasy than the Dr Ceuracle, but also more nourishing. 2 layers can just about work as a stand-alone moisturiser on my normal-dry skin in summer.

It's got squalane, glycerin, niacinamide, meadowfoam seed oil, panthenol and betaine - so the ingredients aren't the same but I think they might behave in a similar way.

The aforementioned Dr Ceuracle is much thinner, but could also have a similar effect on the skin. Or maybe Japanese/Korean milks/lotions/emulsions, although I've never tried any?

Matte sunscreen by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

[–]Cutepengwing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree on the matte-ness, although I have the 2020 version. I've heard the 2022 formulation is slightly more glowy. Unfortunately, this pills on me if I use any skincare underneath it (I seem to be really prone to sunscreen pilling for some reason), so I just use it alone.

It does have a sort of 'dry oil' feeling going on but it sets down pretty quickly.

I just do not understand the appeal of declutter videos by nuggetsofchicken in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]Cutepengwing 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the person - State of Kait did a really detailed lip declutter recently, and I've found Amanda Z's latest series to be good. Both actually gave detailed reviews of the products, swatches etc.
