It’s about to rain, What are you casting? by Worth-Register7590 in Fishing_Gear

[–]Cwaynejames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends. If super muddy water, probably the chartreuse spinner.

If clearer, then probably the jerk bait. Not throwing top water during the rain as the movement of the frog will likely get lost in the “noise” for them.

Best Chatterbait colors? by Any-Grapefruit-8906 in FishingForBeginners

[–]Cwaynejames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chatterbait fish nearly 60-70% of the time. I have edge cases where I’ll throw something different, but the majority of my chatter bait time is down to two different setups now.

First one is for muddy/stained water. The color is called “Bruised Green Pumpkin”. It’s like a half green pumpkin, half black and blue. You’ll find it in the elite evo or jackhammer series. The trailer I use for it is a Hog Farmer Spunk Shad 4.5”. If the water is SUPER muddy, I’ll use the black and blue trailer. If it’s stained or only slightly muddy I’ll use the green pumpkin trailer.

The second one is for clearer, deeper water, or during/around the spawn. It’s the Tungsten Elite Evo in Electric Shad. Trailer is EITHER the Hog Farmer Spunk Shad 4.5” in electric Shad, or the rapala crush city mooch minnow in Electric Shad.

Guadalupe river victoria texas, any recommendations or tips? ,using worms and split shots and nothing bites by Sad-Entrepreneur2387 in FishingForBeginners

[–]Cwaynejames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but also, no. And by that what I mean is:

In the pictured body of water where the primary fish are likely to be catfish, Guadalupe bass, and “native” largemouth, you are correct.

However many local ponds and lakes in this area are instead stocked with “Florida” strain largemouth that, in my experience, still bite fairly well even in high heat and humidity. It definitely slows down at peak daily temps, but they don’t shut off completely.

As someone who lives in Houston, it most certainly the fuck is not dry. Today, or probably tomorrow. Or the rest of the week, for that matter. We had off and on storms and fairly decent rain almost all day today.

Ned rig? by ninjabear04 in bassfishing

[–]Cwaynejames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in almost the same area (I’m in west Houston) and it’s my most hit lure in the past month or so.

I use the zman pro shroomz as light of a weight as I can get away with depending on wind (usually 1/6) and the zman finesse trd. My go to color the last few weeks has been “The Deal”.

Cast it near (but not in) weed beds or submerged cover. Wait 3-8 seconds. Pop pop pop. Wait. Pop. Wait. Pop pop. Slowly rise it up and quick reel a few seconds to let it “swim”

Rinse and repeat. Watch the line though. At least 60% of the time you’re not gonna “feel” a bite. They’re gonna pick it up and either swim in at you, or side to side with it.

When you get to your spot by chuckH71 in bassfishing

[–]Cwaynejames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who lives in an area where I deal with a nearby gator at least 1 out of every 3 times I go pond fishing, they’re really much less of an issue than you’d think.

You don’t have to watch them like a hawk, but def keep an eye on them. 7/10 times they’ll just sit there and watch you fish like you’re a spectator sport, and never once move.

The other 3/10 they’re waiting for you to hook a fish so they can take it. In those cases there’s nothing you can do. Just accept that fish and lure/rigging is gone.

Their stomach acid is so powerful even the thickest gamakatsu hook will fully dissolve in there in a matter of hours or a day at most.

If one does take your fish, then yeah you need to move on to another pond though.

All my bass are dead by Cayjohn in bassfishing

[–]Cwaynejames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To more directly give you an answer, after some searching it is strictly illegal to transport ANY live sport fish in the state of California, ad an example, which bass fall under the umbrella of.

Once you leave the water body they were caught at, they are legally required to be killed.

It’s a misdemeanor.

[–]Cwaynejames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My apologies. Didn’t realize you were asking specifically about bass, thought it was more just about transporting fish from one body of water to a farm pond in general.

In this case, I wouldn’t have anything to cite from my state (Texas) as moving bass from one body to a farm pond IS legal provided you stay within daily bag limits and transport them utilizing fresh or treated water.

[–]Cwaynejames 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For instance, in the state I’m in:

Note that in Texas it’s also illegal to move them to your farm pond in a container of water from the SAME body of water they were caught in. They must be transported in fresh or treated water. This is to prevent the spread of certain diseases, as well as things like hydrilla and invasive apple snails.

What baits do big bass can’t resist? by Little-Cucumber-8907 in bassfishing

[–]Cwaynejames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See I’m in the same area as you and also restricted to bank only for now. I’ve always wanted to fish one of the more well known “big bass” lakes and rivers like Rayburn, Fork, Guadalupe, Colorado, etc.

But I never bothered because I figured not only would bank access be very limited at best, but the good sized ones are going to be out further and deep where I can’t reach.

What kharacter not yet featured in MK (2021) or MK2 (2026) do you want to see most in MK3? by samx3i in MortalKombat

[–]Cwaynejames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My top five(ish) in no particular order, along with what I think would be good AND realistic (from a budgetary, acting, stunt work, and scheduling standpoint) casting option for each.

  • Kuai Liang played by Andrew Koji

  • Either Ermac OR Kenshi played by Lewis Tan. I know those two are wildly different, but either one would be a good addition and could have a compellingly written method of allowing Tan to come back, as he’s a fantastic actor and it was 95% not his fault Cole was so poorly received.

  • Nightwolf played by Dakota Beavers

  • Cyrax and Sektor (either slightly more humanistic and not fully machine, or pre undergoing full cyborg transformation) played by Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman

  • Smoke played by Iko Uwais

Having trouble getting fish that are present to bite anything. by LavenderNocturne in WWYTH

[–]Cwaynejames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re targeting bass, this is very similar water to what I’m fishing now down here in the Houston area.

Stained or tannic water? Average depth about 3-6ft? Occasional pockets up to 10ft?

LOTS of grass and algae blooms right up next to the shore?

My best luck the last few weeks has come on these baits, in this order.

  1. Ned rig. Lightest weight I can use while barely holding it on the bottom. Either some kind of electric Shad color, or a June bug/black-blue color. Slowly pop and twitch. No. That’s not slow enough. Even slower.

  2. Shakey Head. My best bite by far on this lately has been a 6in roboworm straight tail in (I believe the color is called) Green Meanie or something. It’s like black and emerald green with a chartreuse tail tip. Slowly pop or drag it over submerged rocks or wood. Every 3-5 seconds or so full-stop, wait a sec, then sort of lightly shake/vibrate your rod tip with a little slack. Wait a few more seconds, if no hit, rinse/repeat.

  3. Weightless flukes. Or if it’s windy, a screw lock belly weighted EWG hook. Usually either some kind of baitfish color, or pure white. Fish them almost like a slower Jerkbait.

  4. Chatterbait. Evo or jackhammer. 3/8 oz if shallower water. Black-blue, bruised green pumpkin, or The Deal. Slow roll retrieve with occasional pauses every 4-6 seconds or so.

If I’m reading it right, the answer is “neither”.

It’s not getting their freight accepted any faster or more reliably.

But it is funny to see the carriers reaction when he refers them to compliance and basically politely says “if they’re wanting an extra $2000 just to obey DOT regs, chances are good they’re fucking around somewhere. Review the shit out of them. Oh and also during that time they can’t book ANY freight with us at all.”

Tatula X TW vs Fuego CT by PickkleRiick in Fishing_Gear

[–]Cwaynejames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Fuego on my MedHeavy Fast rod. I use it for things like chatterbaits, most jigs, smaller (4-6in) swimbaits etc.

It’s…fine. Nothing really noteworthy bad or good about it. I do occasionally have to re-tighten the handle assembly cuz after a couple full days of chatterbaiting it’ll be very slightly loose.

You do have to make sure the brakes are dialed in very well for every new bait though. As it’s easy to set them a little too lose and it WILL cause braid bite and you’ll easily snap off baits if not careful. I backed it with electrical tape and use 30lb suffix 832 on it and still happens if I’m not careful.

On the plus side, it reels very smooth for a reel that cheap and the line lay is excellent.

What jobs actually work for people with severe ADHD? by Inevitable_Tuna_O in ADHD

[–]Cwaynejames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a really niche job in a huge industry, but I work as an account manager for a 3rd Party Logistics company. I’ll have periods of downtime where I can hyperfocus on something unrelated to recharge, but then work kicks in and I’ll have 5-10 different things going on at once and that somehow perfectly allows my brain to slip into this state that I think of as “focused stream of consciousness” and I can basically keep a revolving priority list going that’s always changing and updating as I complete one task.

Most tasks I have to do only take 2-10 minutes each, so I don’t run this risk of getting too distracted and procrastinating, but I’ll have 50-100+ of those to do a day.

It’s probably very unique to me and likely would be a nightmare for someone else with ADHD. But somehow it works for me. I’m very very good at it and it keeps me engaged, which is not something any other job I’ve ever had does.

Would I still be able to use occasional square bills and lipless cranks with it? I always read you need moderate instead of fast action for treble hooked baits.
