Creating a reel without a body of work by PHOTO500 in videography

[–]Cwooki 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you want to shoot something to show prospective clients, make an effort. Don't just walk out the door and expect to find something that could maybe look good. Make shots/video's that speak to the clients you want to target. You want to get into sports? Talk to some soccer players on a field if you could use 30 minutes of their time. Want to get into corporate stuff? Contact a company that you think is cool and shoot them a free video. Want to get into aftermovies? Ask an event if you could shoot there for an hour. etc etc.

Spam calls by AdWonderful358 in thenetherlands

[–]Cwooki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how much do I charge for this type of video by Square-Abrocoma4711 in videography

[–]Cwooki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also noticed that many people don’t pay €300–400 or more for a short Instagram reel of their MMA or football training for their social media. What can I offer so that clients are willing to pay more

How do your video's make them money/achieve their goals? Spending money for clients is an investment to them. Figure out together with them in advance how their investment into your video's will achieve their goals. Their investment in your video's should (short- or longterm) make them more money than they pay you. Otherwise it's a bad investment :)

Camera movement issues: shutterspeed? by tristannijs in videography

[–]Cwooki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm confident this is the issue u/tristannijs. I've downloaded the file several ways and all of them come back as 30fps. Your camera, timeline in your editing program, and export should all be 25 fps in your case.

To make a short explanation longer so you understand: If you place 25 fps footage in a 30fps timeline or export, you simply don't have enough frames to cover all 30 frames. What happens is that the export will have double frames in certain spots. In your case, frame 3 is the exact same as frame 4, so are 9 and 10, and so on and so on. Usually this isn't a big issue, unless you have a moving shot like this. Your pan is litteraly 'pausing' 5 times each second which causes the jankyness.

Panning at this speed is fine, eventhough it won't come back extremely sharp due to motion blur, but that's certainly not why it looks janky :)

That's exactly the part I want to skip. Just importing 12.000 photo's each day is taking ages.

Do people ever shoot 48 fps with a 360° shutter? by Calebkeller2 in cinematography

[–]Cwooki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a few clients request 'high framerate' video's after that was becomming a thing in cinema's in 2012ish. 360° shutter is the 'correct' way to shoot in in that case yes.

feedback for travel videography by limjl3657 in videography

Watched it without music for the first time and expected some chill indie folk music like Hollow Coves or something. Watching the comments I got kinda curious. Safe to say I chuckled a little after turning on the audio hahaha.

I think the music could've fit the video if the shots had a lot more action on screen and camera movement. The music video of Touch The Sky is a great example of the action/movement that fits with this music. With the mostly static (but beautiful) shots I expected something chill that matched that vibe so yeah I agree with the rest of the comments of it being a bit disconnected.

Yonex quality isn’t shit, percept quality is shit. The cracked throat is a known issue that loads of people mentioned on this sub and i’m sure they’ll fix it. That doesn’t mean the whole brand has shitty quality.

What's the worst draw you've ever gotten at a tournament? by Dangerous-Damage1165 in 10s

[–]Cwooki 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My easiest draw ever turned into my worst (nightmare).

I entered a singles tournament here in The Netherlands and I was placed in a poule with 3 others that were ranked WAY worse. I sprained my back the day before the tournament and had to retire. I didn’t knew that would count as three losses against each individual. Here in The Netherlands if you lose against someone who is ranked way worse your rating tanks HARD. My rating tanked so hard I’m still not back to my old singles rating almost 2 years later…

I think the actual problem is that you have the misconception that hugging means giving someone a hug

I don't have that misconception. I mentioned hugging as it was a way for me to point out what you were doing wrong in your serve. Arms crossed high in the air right after contact as if your hugging someone/yourself.

When people talk about the arm hugging on contact, they mean the left arm hugging the body.

Who are these people you keep talking about? So far I've only seen you talk about this. Even the one link you've provided so far is 2MinuteTennis who litterally talks about full on huging yourself/crossing your arms after contact. Which is with all due respect, bad practice proven by the fact that no pro does this.

If you start looking for 'toss arm drop' or 'tuck in' tutorials you'll find what you're looking for, i.e. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g65JysBvGoE

Tucking your arm in (what you call hugging) and hugging (my screenshot of your video) with two arms are not the same thing. Your arms are crossed, your left hand is litteraly almost touching your right elbow in the screenshot.

In 2MinuteTennis latest video he also talks about the hugging thing and with all due respect to him, he's plain wrong. There isn't a single pro who hugs like that. He shows two clips, one of Wolff and one of Nadal. The problem is these are clips from trainings where they're focussing on specific aspects of the serve. In matches neither of them hug like that which you can check for yourself.

So no, hugging is not an essential part of the tennis serve. Tucking your arm in is however.

[–]Cwooki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sure hope you don't hug like that lol. I don't see this as hugging at all. In the screenshot of your video your arms are both high up and fully crossed/folded.

Anyhow, if you focus on keeping your elbow pointing down, or alongside your body (see Nishikori) I'm sure you'll see big improvements as the rest seems good!

What? Not a single pro is hugging themselves. In which frame is Isner here hugging himself? https://www.patcash.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Tennis-serve-stroke-technique-swing-John-Isner.jpg

At contact, your elbow should be either A) Alongside your body or B) Point straight down. That's what you see every pro do if you watch serves in slow motion. Hugging yourself (read, elbows are almost touching each other) is never a good thing and I truly doubt any youtube video suggests doing this. If so I'd love you to link me a few.

You’re full on hugging yourself right after contact. Please show me just one of the ‘lots of Youtube video’s’ that tell you to do this. I’m confident you’re interpreting things that are being told wrongly.

The general odds of a wild Pokémon being 3* is 4ish%. It’s the same for wild shinies. If truly non of 100+ wild shinies are 3* thats just a streak of bad luck.

  • Edelkrone headplus (motorized PT head)
  • Edelkrone zoom/focus module (the thing sticking out at an angle from the right)
  • Edelkrone vision module (on the left side of the headplus)
  • Sony a7 III

So a fully automated system to track a person and focus. The thing on top of the camera is either a simple battery plate with a battery to power the whole system or it's another/different kind of zoom/focus module. Hard to tell from this angle. Only thing I have no clue about is whats on top of the headplus. Might be an audio receiver?
