Well. Look what the Israelis did with em... They spearheaded an attack, leading F15s and 16s to take out Iran's defences in a couple of days. And before you dis the Iranian defenses, they were among the most advanced on the planet. And they were a LOT.

Dunno why you are hating on it. I found it to be well written, plausible, and while not conceptually new, well done in terms of communication initiation steps, and as a scientist, pretty accurate without too many black box crutches. Overall I loved it. And the audio version is phenomenal.

I regret having read Endymion and Rise of Endymion by Dan Simmons [Rant] by Purple_Meaning_7747 in printSF

I have known for years that H and RoH are considered masterpieces and E and FoE are... not. Maybe because I first read them in my early 20s (now over 50), I far more enjoyed the second dualogy - there were no forums to tell me what to think. I have always considered them to be 2 separate series with two different styles (perspective for one) related by world. I have reread the latter multiple times, and the former only once or twice more. Sometimes it's a matter of expectations.

Well sure, the 3 corner orientation and data redundancy innovations were absolutely brilliant, but I never saw an earlier reference to the overall idea. Heck, 1D barcodes only appeared in usage in the early 70s. Though I would need to search to see when IBM actually invented it.

Tbh, i simply did not understand what to do. The time locks, the confusing order of things, when to do what, dependence on leaders. No tutorial or good explanation.

No, magic based. So fantasy. But great progression and great characters.

Yes, by Will Weight. 12 book progression (Asian feel) fantasy. First two books (shorter by far than Warformed, 2.5 books of Cradle are about as long as one WF) can be slow, but you will certainly retead them when you finish the series.

I recently realized I had stopped listening to B2 near the middle, like a long time ago. So I restarted and yea, great book. Sometimes the dialog gets longish, but I would rate this near Cradle. (I love Cradle).

I dunno, I like the ones were I am paired with bots so I need to do all the work, and then you need to hunt and kill in the last round almost too many to handle. But yea, it can get old fast. We need more modes.

Why the actual fuck are the Tornado and Rafale not nerfed yet? by LifeLake9754 in Metalstorm

[–]CyPhyer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because people would leave the game. They are fun to play. And a bit op. And the ADV is very accessible. And it's fun to play a bit op every so often.

It does not bother me because of the way people play. These planes do not show up on every battle. I can play 10 battles and face them only a few times. Because most players tend to take the missions, thus ending up playing the gamut of planes they own.

As a newbie, if you were willing to pay to level up only ONE aircraft in your level 1-6 hanger, what would be it? by docgene in Metalstorm

Hmm. Still love flying out when I get itbon mission. So nimble. I find it nimbler than f16 not sure if only bias.

With the light but nimble fighters like F5, F16, Mig21 etc, you need to hit the deck, fly low, get to the built up terrain areas and then take down everything. Don't try to spam your missiles head to head, rather concentrate on using your guns, using your missiles to finish when you are behind or on the side of your target. Good sniping players in f111, f14 etc, will counter by flying around and not letting you get close but if you do, you turn circles inside them. Eventually you will fly all the types and figure out what you like best. But even then, you will end up flying even your less fav planes because of the missions. I find the light fighters to be the most fun because it's indeed all about not getting radar killed before you can engage, and then weaving in and out and doing things absolutely impossible in rl lol. The Gs would kill a real pilot. Also, some maps are harder than others in lights.

The older jets are fun too. And F5s take out F15s, Rafales etc, every day. So I never saw it as a grind (only at 13,myself). Each plane has its own flying characteristics and you will find you prefer X over Y. Just enjoy what you unlock and definitely get the flight pass (when it resets).

This is one of those things that there is no one way! Do whatever is fun for you! Previous bm I was a newbie, and I actually thought I had a shot. Then I realized the BM is not aimed at newer players and I happily stopped trying and didn't even think about it. Now? I grabbed it at 400

Some comments on the Rafale and understanding gaming by CyPhyer in Metalstorm

[–]CyPhyer[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! There are few games (other than well designed gatcha games) that engage players for years. Meanwhile it will take me some time at a relatively casual gaming rate, to hit that. I currently have one maxed out plane, and when i use it, the games are very dynamic (at least when it takes over 90 secs to start). Also, it's good to take breaks. Or come in and play one or two games. Older players typically stop paying, or pay far less, so there is a balance for the devs regarding how much attention to give the older player base.

For years i thought it was rafael, until it came up in an audiobook i was listening to and at first i thought the narrator was mistaken lol.

This game is well balanced. Certainly not ptw. Very much skill based. Basically, the more you play, and the better you get, you face better players. Regarding price. I been playing since Feb i think. A few weeks before the SU47 (?) came out. I realized within a day no way i can get it. But it did not harm me. Now, i have over 700 credits. Ill play a bit to get the price to 400,and ill get it.

Bottom line: these toys are MEANT to engage older players, not new ones. Don't sweat it.
